i have a 2" sunpro tach that was working fine intill i took it over 5,000 and the light quit working so i checked the conections and started the car the light came back on but as soon as i took it over 5,000 again it quit intill i turned the car off and on again.

So dont buy sunpro gauges!

I installed a sunpro super tach II this sunday and just now got it working right. The ecu tach signal's impedance was too high so i had to add a second input buffer transistor to make a darlington pair. Even then the tach was reading low and i had to adjust the trimming pot. While the mods required to make it work were only around $5, I don't think many people would know what to do. It is possible to make this tach work but I wouldn't recamend it unless you know a good but about electronics and have alot of patience.

Your car has the distributorless ignition, right? There was discussion on installing tachs on vehicles with DIS in this thread:

Thanks for the link but I had already read that thread. None of the methods mentioned in it would work with the sunpro tach, but I got it working using the ecu tach signal and the methods I mentioned above.
