Hi!

I've done a lot of searches on this site to get answers but, so far, I've been unsuccessful. I want to upgrade my 1998 1.3 Swift automatic transaxle with a GT 5 spd. Is this possible??? If not I guess I'll have to go with 1998 or later 5 spd.

I have a good idea that I will need the flywheel, clutch assy, 1998 axle shafts for 5 spd trans, trans cables, pedals, shifting mechanism, console, ECU, and either the trans mount with the center crossmember or both. Did I leave anything out?

The goal with this is to improve both the performance and fuel economy of my car which will get some engine performance upgrades while remaining normally aspirated.

Thanks to all!

P.S. If anybody knows the address of a previous thread with this topic, please, be kind enough to point to the right direction...

That's about it. Any MK4/5 1.3 manual trans axles, mounts, etc... will work. Get all the Mechanical parts installed and you can swap to a manual ECU later. Just jump the safety switch to start it. Check engine light will be on until ECU swap is done.

You can swap to a GT trans later if needed. Won't require any other parts after the car is setup for a 5 speed.
