Ok i'm new here. I have a 2.3/2.4 hybrid Q4 that i would love to swap into a 94 geo metro
so i wanted to come on here and see if anybody has done this yet? i was planning on using the getrag 282 5spd out of a brettea and put the 2.3/2.4 quad 4 in there using a cavalier computer and wiring harness. this way i could get a geo with manual everything and put all the cavalier stuff in the metro and run it from the custom dash i would make so i can use the cavalier havac, radio, clusther. That way i really woun't have to worry about the wiring part.

so if you guys can help i would be greatfull

thanks

This would be a very interesting swap! I think you may end up using the original trans with some sort of custom adapter unless you can fabricate the larger setup to fit.

You're also going to have to modify your axles. I would take a few measurements first, just to make sure the engine will fit. From my experience with those engines, they're not exactly small for a 2.4. That engine also mounts in the engine bay a bit different. You're going to have to come up with a way to fab some mounts. Or make a subframe that'll hold the motor , and attach the motor's subframe to the metro's subframe.

yes the motor is kinda big and no on the stock tranny because i know that the getrag that
i have will handel the power i'll be putting to it and yes custom cv shafts and custom mounts for sure. i think that i might have to cut for some clerince for the crank pully. but i would do a custom hood like a wrx or somthing idk. So what do you think of the swap idea??? sould
like it would be cool and get good gas milliage

Well it should do that very well. I would use a gti outer hub set up and then the cavi inner on the cv shaft then you could have the center custom made that way it will take a beating. Also make sure that you keep the motor level enough that you dont have oil drain or pick up issues. Did you use the long stroke of the 2.4 and the big bore of the 2.3 if so if the ecu is not maf its going o have a conip. Can you give me any info on the motor. I know the gm stuff fairly well. also make sure you dont over rev it because the balance shaft can come apart over 6700 rpms real quick.

well ill be using the 2.4 block with 9:5:1 in it and by putting the 2.3 086 head on it,it
bumps it up to like 11:1:1 so there i have the cavie computer witch will be reflashed to make for sure it will run for the best, either way the 2.4 ecm will run the hybrid no prob. as for balance shafts i'm throughing them out and doing the 2.3 oil pump swap.

that should work it will act abit rough but should run well as long as it all fits. just dont spray it to hard we had a problem with the stock slugs coming apart at a 75 shot on 91 octane with a mild tune

Well, Swift13b has a Nissan 2.something/ 6speed in his Metro so i think it's possible. Why the Quad4? It makes TONS of power for a 4banger but they are bitches to maintain. I would look more along the lines of the newer Ecotecs over the Quad4, less power but more reliable and more aftermarket.

Just my 2cents...

Kyle

It will snow ball in a huge way. You will have huge hours and $$$'s in a car that you won't get a penny for after. If you want to do it bad and have a lot of fabricating experience it would be neat, but realize it will be a labour of love.

Change the water pump and timing chain before you put it in. It's about as fun as cutting your cock off and throwing it in a field while it's in a vehicle  . But, like I said before, go for it man. You've got a LOT of work ahead of ya!!! Fabricating special parts is quite a chore when you haven't been doing it for 20 years. The metro will be a good car to hone your skills with tho.
