I know i'm going to get a sigh off everyone and a :search: smiley but I'm after some assistance after hours of searching through topics.

I have a 1997 Swift gls 1.3 8v, from the UK. I've heard some people call it european spec but im not sure if its a mk4/5 but anyway I bought a swift gti engine to drop in it, turns out its a mk1 engine. I have the ECU but not the loom as the guy i bought it off had hacked away merrily at it. Apparently the mk1 ecu controls only the engine whereas the mk2/3 controls the ignition and engine. I do have a mk2/3 loom i sourced but nothing else.

I have also read that the with the engine I have, I can only fit the mk1 clocks which is a pain, can anyone confirm this. My question is, is there a way round this or would it just make my life easier to sell the engine and get a mk2/3 engine or is it possible to swap parts over to make it compatible with mk2/3 engine management.

Obviously i would need ECU and MAF but would i need to go swap happy on sensors and inlet manifold?

Any help would be much appreciated!
