My Sprint motor smokes like the mosquito man! Can I take an engine from a 89-94 metro and put it in there without too much issue? I know the engines look physically different. But bost are 1.0L. One carb, one fuel infected.

Input please.

There are enough differences that it's not a very simple swap. Take it apart and put piston rings in it, new exhaust valves in head, a few other things and you have a great engine again for under the cost of many unknown condition used engines.

I have an 87 sprint and am wondering the same thing. If a 1.0 from a MK2 or 3 would swap out. I would want to do it with the transmission as well. Basically remove engine and trans from mk1 and replace with mk2. Keeping the it carbed. Is that even something that can be done?

I don't want any engine management. Just a straight bare bones deal.

It would be pretty nice to have a spare engine in my daily while I rebuild the other for future use.
