Hello folks, I have dropped a newly overhauled 1.3 sohc 16v engine into my sons 96 2 door Geo. With the info gleaned from this board the the installation was a snap. Thanks to t3 ragtop for the nice pictures of the transmission motor mount mod!http://teamswift.net/posting.php?mode=smilies&f=27#
Tomorrow I will start the wiring? I will need your help with this. I removed from the donor car ( 2000 Chevy Metro AUTOMATIC ) the computer and its associated wiring harness. We have a 5 speed. Will this be a problem? All summer I have been searching for a 5 speed 1.3 sohc 16v to no avail.
Differences I have noted. The auto harness has a connector that will not be used, and the neutral safety switch will have to be modified and spliced in. The tie in connectors to the harness running alongside the top firewall seemed to connect.
The rest of the wiring is the stock 96 geo. What do you guys think?http://teamswift.net/posting.php?mode=smilies&f=27#

I did the swap and still run an auto ecu. You are correct that you just need to tap into the park/neutral switch, hook up your clutch safety switch and back up light switch here. One little thing you'll notice is that the idle will bump up when you put it in reverse, this is because the auto ecu will think its in gear and ad a touch of idle speed to it.
There will def be a bit of wiring to sort out, the harness front to rear is quite a bit different for the 98+ cars with that engine. I switched dash harness at the same time, only reused the rear harness, since I had a donor car it seemed simpler.
