Post subject:  DOHC valve springs

I am looking for the following information. I do not have a GT shop manual.
Valve spring information
Spring length over all length. Measure with it out of the head.
Outside diameter
inside diameter
coil diameter
number of coils
are the exhaust and intake springs the same?

I have the same question...

I have been researching the heck out of this. I have so many notes I've lost track. I do know that the stock spring I have that still with in specification is 2.01" free height. ID was .714, OD is 1.025. I only had three spring in the head that met the specification on free height. the rest were between 1.76-1.89, plus I had a broken one.

The closest one I found was for a Honda H22A1 from Elgin. Pt # RV-1426. Sealed Power has a cross reference but not sure it fits the retainer because it has a smaller ID and OD.. Also found Manley has Next tech that matches close but it's for a Ford 4.8 Mod motor. I am waiting to hear back from Crower, and SuperTech.

I myself can't afford the 700+ dollars that SRD wants for his spring kit. If I went with Elgin or Sealed Power the bill would be less than a 100 dollars for a set Crower initially estimated about 156 from them 190 with retainers.

Go to the aftermarket cam shaft manufacturers. They have a much better selection of springs.
Isky had a good selection for import cars.

The factory springs have been proven to be very good quality and can run upto 10,000 rpm, you only need .060" packer under the spring to bring up the seat preasure a little, better places to spend your money :wink:
