A green 2 door metro which will be sporting a 2.5 QR25DE, 6 speed spec-v transmission with LSD and ofcourse, some boost snail style. I will turn this into my build thread, starting with a long overdrawn introduction.

The motor makes 175hp stock, which is more than what my modded 3cyl has (roughly 120 at 10psi... soon to be about 18 with megasquirt) but the problem is I keep breaking transmissions, and whats the point in having power if you cant use it? Not only that but I am the kind of guy that rags on his machines, and im tired of eating up 1 13" tire every 30 days. I cant help it. Wheel spin is fun for the first little while, then you wish you could be moving forward and improving times instead. So this is a project I had to jump on, the price was right and its got the LSD Id be spending alot on for a gti box... which will inevitably strip teeth off the gears again anyways. screw it.

The guy I am buying it from has a shop, CWS Tuning: http://www.cwstuning.com/ and is a member of another car community I post-whore up and has done most of the work already. The motor is in, its got a turbo manifold already, its got engine management software and the axles made up for the metro hubs. So essentially I am going to be finishing his project, the important, expensive and hard work has been done already. Thats huge!

Now Ive never had a newer Nissan than an 88, so I've got some reading to do on what my limits are with this motor and drivetrain, but 6 gears and an LSD is going to be insane. So onto the plans!

Stock motor, compression is only 9:1 so I intend to boost this motor without any other modifications other than software and the turbo goodies (you know, manifold, the snail, injectors, pump, tubes, etc etc). Plans for lumpy cams though. only has ~64000km on motor/trans
Brake upgrade front/rear
Coil overs front/rear are a must
Not sure on swaybars, it needs a front one fabbed up anyways, so probably bigger, they are relatively cheap anyways
Planning on using 14" wheels if I can get away with it (re: brakes) and some RT615's all around. Want small rotating height to keep the final drive up.
Body: All stock, maybe a lip, dont want people knowing what its got.

other than that, nothing too special, its basically 50% done as it is. And here I was gonna spend 8-10k building up a cultus, pff, got the car as is for 2k, how could I say no?

Will put some sort of performance clutch/flywheel on so I hopefully wont have to take it out and apart anytime soon.
SPEC V:
Gear Ratios
1: 3.153:1 2: 1.944:1 3: 1.392:1 4: 1.055:1 5: 0.809:1 6: 0.673:1 Final drive: 4.133:1
Differential: helical limited slip
GT:
Gear Ratios
1: 3.416:1 2: 1.894:1 3: 1.375:1 (or 1.280:1 non gti) 4: 1.030:1 (or 0.914:1 non gti) 5: 0.870:1 (or 0.757:1 non gti) Final drive: 4.105:1
Differential: Open

That gearbox gets rid of the bad gaps in the first few gears the GT trannies have. 3.1 in first gear is nice too.
And you know me, ofcourse this thread will be covered with tons of pics

i don't see much difference except you got an extra gear that will make you go at 100km/h at 1800rpm

what are you gonna do with turbo3?

ill be driving it, im building this pretty much strictly for racing and dickin around in, the t3 is my work courier car so it gets the most use. and I can write off repairs/gas on it, so I will be using it the most

the LSD is a big bonus, and first isnt so useless

Courier car? Do you throw papers? Also, could you explain why it says nissan in there?Did someone else put that in?

It's a Nissan engine from a Sentra; a crazy engine swap.

Actually, regarding that, did 6th gear replace the reverse slot? And where is reverse if it did?

This is a standard Nissan Transaxle? If not how is it modified?

What years were these in? Turbo was standard on the donor car or is it all fabbed from top to bottom?

I like everything I see besides the bubblegum welds on the mounts

the mounts arent done, its the drivetrain from a 2005 or 6 sentra spec v. nothing is modified, its all a stock motor/trans, custom axles and custom turbo setup

That is insanity! Very, very cool insanity. It will be rediculously sneaky. I have heard great things about those engines in the Spec V cars, they are really strong. Hope it goes together well, what a deal for you. Good score. I hope the control arm mounts are not to rusty, they are so bad on those years :( You will be putting a lot of stress on that front end, make it strong. Can't wait to see it come together.

sweet, I was searching on Google and this popped up. Totally awesome.

I drive a turbocharged 2004 Spec V, these motors love turbos. 9psi on a t3/t4 50 trim put me at 316whp and 304wtq on a stock block stock motor. Good luck keeping tires on this thing, lol.

I looks like someone modified the timing cover to take a distributor.

I'm not trying to whore out my forum, but if you need any info on the QR motor or turbo stuff for this motor, used parts, etc. feel free to stop by and ask: TwoFiveTuning.com.

Good luck on the project, that thing is going to be nasty. ~J~

they also modified the throttle body from some vw that was a direct fit, so its no longer drivebywire too

well it has a bosch digi system on it, but I think I may go to a megasquirt and sell it. this digi is mapped for a turbo qr25, so im sure its valuable to someone. I just like the ms. ill be going all out for this car.

I should leave those 13s on for lulz

hey neat. I use megasquirt on a few qr25de vehicles here, running just fine. We actually got megasquirt running on the qr25 without the need for a trigger wheel for fuel-only application using ms1_extra_hr firmware. We have plenty of information on building the ms1 and starting to get some ms2 information (switch to ms2 just for the x-tau acceleration enrichment tuning, the .001 ms injector timing resolution and better ADC support) as I research it on my car and the bench here. Several people have gotten it working pretty easily.

Hell, we've even gone as far as to modify the msns-extra_hr firmware for better overrun response and rudimentary spool-assist in the ms1 firmware. Going to have to start hacking on the ms2extra soon, most likely, to get it further tailored to the qr.

give us a shout at http://myspecv.com plenty of information there.

cool mang. im going with an ms2. it apparently has some bosch digi management thing that I have no idea how to work. ive done an ms on my 3cyl swift, and played around with the updated ms2 software. I will be using a trigger wheel, COPs and an otherwise stock motor.

ive done some reading about these motors and it seems they dont like to rev out so much for a few reasons, mostly being the stroke combined with a bad r:s ratio but its not a big deal. I have both an n/a extractor and a turbo manifold so I could build this thing either way. but what im mostly after is this:
350atw and relatively reliable.
the factory lsd is a bonus, but Im not sure on when drivetrain parts start to fail. I dont know if I should be worried about these metro hubs either. I have the custom half shafts made but not assembled to go from ser trans to metro hubs to the proper length.
will be using a 35 trim ish turbo maybe, preferrably in the ball bearing variety.
the body will remain 100% stock, will use an air/water exchanger rather than a big front mount
I want to keep the small wheels (or small ish... 15s or so) and make it look like im just some guy who put some nice wheels on his metro.

I will leave it internally gated if I find a turbo for a good price, only thing im using an external on is the turbo3 factory turbo on my 600cc katana, and welding the stock one shut. hell each of the runners on the factory exhaust manifold is the same size ID as the turbo inlet heh. even though that ones 600cc's the 12000rpm might cause some issues with flow. so I think ill be keeping that motor stock, boosting it, and running 94 octane in it. I like my turbos. the biggest engine I have in the smallest car, and then boosted! :D hell, that motor swap alone would be a nice power increase. I think I could get away with 8-10psi on that thing and still be reliable ish

not much has been updated on this car since then, been waaay to busy. I pulled some stuff of and did a little work, but im almost considering selling it to someone who could finish it and let me rip in it. its gonna be anotehr 12 months before it gets running, and its just taking up space

you will need spec v inner shafts, and custom length middle shafts... that is, if you keep the 96 geo hubs. I would almost splurge for the gt hubs, or somehow fab up the nissan hubs.

theres lots of potential, just not enough time
