The one owner was a newfie chick that must have been in her 20's when she bought it.
I've done worse =)

That's awesome. I got the exact same car in white, with 3 times the miles and a lot more frame/body rot for 800$ lol

Butters: Well ok I guess. There was this Newfie farmer with a stud bull.
To celebrate the bull's successful "servicing" of the 200th cow,
the farmer bought his sexually frustrated wife a nice 2001 Metro for $800.

She looked at the car and said,
Big F-ing deal! Why dont ya ask dat bull for some advice?

The farmer said,
Well it helps if it aint always the same COW !

Well, he's been driving it for about a month now.
It needed brake lines in the back, and a brake auto adjuster on one side to pass the inspection.

We took 1 1/2 coils out of the front, starting with 1 at first, then 1/4 more each time. I thought it was OK at 1 1/4, but it's not my car :P
On the rear he did 3/4 of a coil, and removed the rubber donut from the top.
We'll probably take another 1/4-1/2, and reinstall the donut to get another 1/2" or so drop on the rear.

The rims came from another car I bought. He sandblasted them, painted them in gunmetal/charcoal, then clear coated them.
We found the Kumho 185 60 14's for $80 with 20k (km)

So far he's put a cheapo cone filter, and 45 mm throttle body. The throttle body made a big difference in the upper RPM's.
G-tech runs completely stock were in the low 17's, with a best of 16.8. We're going to do a set of runs after every mod, to see what the difference is.
We'll do the ones with the new tb, maybe tomorrow.
Then comes the 4-2-1 manifold, and 2" exhaust, and a cam after that.
He's lucky dad has all this stuff lying around :P

Not under normal circumstances.
I love the look of that car.
Every time I see it, I wish it was mine.
At least I get to work on it, and drive it occasionally :P

Not anymore :P

Painted bumpers, and new stance. I wanted to keep them black, but I have to admit, he was right.
It looks good.
Better pics coming when the weather clears up. It just needs an exhaust, and tint, and it'll be almost done

I'm on the case

My 98 car feels as fast as a GT up to about 4000-4500 RPM, (at which point the GT hits, and the 98 lags) and the only difference between it, and this car is the exhaust. The 01 has a pre-cat in the manifold, so I suspect that is what's responsible for the marginal power. As soon as the exh. is done, a cam will go in, and the belt will get changed, and possibly a 4.10-1 gear will go in. It's all part of the master plan.
I can't decide whether to use the 1.6 sedan manifold, or a GT manifold. The bolt pattern is slightly different, and they are both 4-2-1, but the runners on the GT part are 2 mm bigger in diameter.
I was looking at that rusty Genie header for sale, but junior can't weld thin stuff, and dad doesn't need any more things to do. :P

i like it better with the silver bumpers. it reduces that "kicked in the ass" look.

the more lizzie rolls her 2000 around, the better i like it. it always takes me a while to warm up to the next newer generation when i settle on a favorite car and i sort of like the looks of the mk4/5 metro now. i also sort of like the 16v sohc version of the g13 in it's last couple of years. it has an improved intake manifold, multiport fuel injection, decent fuel economy, and doesn't take a nap when you run the air conditioning.

the marque is sort of long in the tooth now and the best cars available in the rust belt are the newest ones. even at that, rust never sleeps.

It takes you a while, like 15 years? I guess comparatively that's not long for you :P
The more I drive this car, the more I like it.
I have a Mark 3 to get into after I drive his, so it's easy to compare.
Next project for me will be a DOHC Mk 5. The GT Suzuki should have built.
