I just bought a 98 metro for $250 and its sitting on lowering springs. The struts are blown and was wondering if the aftermarket accomadated the 98 and up with a strut that would work well with the lowering springs?

keep in mind that the kyb gr-2 struts' warranty only works for a drop of up to 1.4".

Since the KYB's are designed for the lower mk2/3 cars, dropping a mk4/5 1.5" puts it only 1/2" lower than the older cars, IIRC

With the mk2/3 kyb gr-2's, would the shaft diameter be correct when installing on mk 4/5? I know that there is more weight in the newer cars vs the older cars and didn't know if you would have to exchange the strut mounts...

Shaft diameter is the same. Only difference is the springs are different to take the added weight, and the length of everything that goes out to the wheel is a bit longer for the increased track, axle, tie rod, control arm.
