my '98 1.0 recently started intermittently sputtering/missing, especially while accelerating, just like water in the gas would cause. At first it was just one or two "coughs" sometimes days apart, but it's been progressively getting worse and really only seems to happen when it's warmed to operating temperature.
Idles fine just sitting, and can't make it miss by radically rocking the vehicle.
I've run out the gas, drained out the remainder as much as possible, and put in fresh.

Seems like something's going bad, but what?

Plugs and wires all good, and can't find any vacuum leaks.

Any ideas out there?

Also, anyone know how to remove those "quick couplers" connecting the fuel tank to the lines running to the engine compartment?

Thanks,

my 98 metro is in the same boat. swapped in a new engine 3 years ago. an it has run rough ever since. the whole engine shakes. thought it was timing. thought it was timing belt off by a tooth. check for vacuum leaks. no luck. in the last couple months did a valve job an now the car is running really rough and has no power. went though the vacuum lined and made sure the cam was lined up with the crank.

any ideas?

have you checked compression? Have you checked Dist cap and rotor? Do FULL check on ignition system.
