98 swift 5 speed. Craigslist ad said timing belt broke. Ruined motor.

Pulled the belt off my old 1.3 that's been sitting in my yard for the last 16 months, drove the 60 miles to the car, popped the belt on in his driveway, and drove home. Pulled in at 7:45. Drove out exactly 1 hour later

2 owner car. Still has the owners manual and maintenance book. No parcel shelf though.

Best part..i may have gotten another customer. He said he's buying another one and wants me to work on it :)

Overall physically its in good condition for the mileage. Think the lock nut backed off. No 5th gear.

Horrible night time cell phone pic with no flash. Really not much to see. 98 Swift with 270k next to my 98 with 200k.

New plugs in. 45mm tb in. Washed the shit out of the engine.

This thing actually runs and drives pretty good now. Amazing how slow it is though.

The stock exhaust on those cars isn't doing you any favours.

My son did the TB, cam, exhaust, etc, and the best mod he says was by far the 4.39 trans. I bet it was only that good because he already had the other stuff first, and now it wanted some more gear.

oh i know but this one is supposed to be a basic DD. only reason the tb went on is i had one.

believe it or not but my 1.6 car still has the stock piping from the cat to the muffler. GTi manifold, 4.6 explorer cat (about 2.5" inlet/outlet), 3.2 tl resonator as a muffler (straight thru about 2.25" or so), and no stock resonator. but the main piping is the stock tiny junk. ill be replacing it shortly.

Tie rod acquired. Parcel shelf found. Small trim crap and screws. Still need remote adjusting mirrors, a tach and hatch release.

Found 2 sets of esteem seats. Not sure on the pattern i want.

Well I've been keeping an eye on it... Looks like this one will get an engine swap too. Its got some blowby. No smoke but keeps pushing the dipstick out.

Just might go for a j-series on this one.
