Just a helpful tip.

I've been a Mitsubishi guy for 13 years now. The starter in my Swift has been giving me trouble for the last 6 months or so. Finally completely died today.

Looking thru my pile of startersi notice my 3000gt starters have a very similar solenoid. Get them side by side and see that the mounting points are pretty close. Put the spacer on and the holes line up. Fit it to the bellhousing and it fits on the locating pins.

At this point I say fuck it and bolt it up. works. No odd noises. Doesn't hang up in the flywheel...everything works right.

Its also physically smaller than my 1.6 starter was. I'll weigh them tomorrow.

This is a 91-99 3000gt vr4 starter on a 98 esteem engine set. Should work in the 1.3 5 speed too as the only difference I could find was the 1.6 starter was more powerful.

98 swift 1.6 16v swap
03 cobra bolt ons
97 3000gt vr4 e85, high comp, bolt ons
too many others to list
