Hello my name is John and I live in Parrish, Alabama. I have a 2000 Metro 1.3l G13B with an automatic transmission. It just gave me problems for the first time yesterday. While I was at a stop sign I went to take off and it jerked and then made a loud grinding sound. I thought that I had dropped a CV and that was not the case. I then openjed the hood and had my girlfriend put it in gear while I listened under the hood. It was not the flywheel and the sound only happened when I put it in any gear and it did not move. I have kept the fluid and filter clean and it did not smell burnt and was pink. The car has 199,000 miles on it and runs like brand new. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what let loose in my tranny and does anyone have a good tranny that I can get for mine at a decent price as I am not wealthy lol. Just want to get my GEO back up and running. I really love my little car. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate any help that I can get.

Does anyone think that the torque converter has let loose from the flywheel? Or is it possible that the torque converter has broken up inside?

Anything is possible but regardless of what actually failed it will have to be removed and disassembled so it really doesn't matter what happened.

If you do tear into it please update this post with pics if possible.

John, I have an auto trans from a 1996 Geo Metro 2 dr hatchback, 1.3 that I'm trying to sell for $50. When removed it shifted fine and the car had approx. the same miles as yours. I don't know about interchange but if interested PM me. Only bad thing is I'm in Toledo,OH.
