the crossbar isn't even a problem now that it's been trimmed .. it's the height of the intercooler and the plumping running too it .. namely the charge pipe coming right off the turbo and bending towards the intercooler .. the BOV sticks way up as well... might try to locate a stock subbie bov instead of that monster avo sequential unit.

I've liked the way you have the intercooler
on top dump'in air right down the throat (short run)

It make's a statement
( your driving a powerplant & the body's only purpose is motor mount's with door handles)

I guess that's why alot of coolers or mounted in front
(Hood clearance)

how about drag'in out the Sawsall & Tig welder
for some hack'in-n-patch'in
put the BOV in a down angle
Or patch the hole & move the BOV to the pipe
for some clearance????

I came up with an idea .. rally style light pods built into the hood .. that should give me more then enough clearance
nothing quite this extreme or tall .. but a simple double light hood pod molded in for my hella's ..

it's probably easier to build then explain/photoshop

I'm not sure with the hood so far foward from the windshield that the cowl induction could move enough air to the intercooler .. I want to bring the center section of the hood up a 3-4 inches in the front and taper it back to near flush with the original towards the back with the '04 wrx scoop over the intercooler ...
I'm going to use the light pods to help soften the blunt rise at the nose of the hood there

How about something like this (see shitty ms paint picture) dunno how well that'd work but if you put some kind of vent or scoop in the top to draw air in and force it out the cowl? I dunno about the air pressures though... just a brain fart

a number of updates over the past few days ...
various stages of mk1 brakes ...
stock mk1 brakes
<a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=3061">Image</a>
vented mk2 turbo 3/vert/'95+ brake swap
<a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=3960">Image</a>
and upgraded vented brakes w/ cross-drilled & slotted rotors & ceramic pads from sprintdans group buy, just need to do a full flush with dot5 fluid and find some stainless steel lines to finish it off. :)
<a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=7683">Image</a><a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=7685">Image</a>

I also had to clearance the body a bit to hopefully eliminate the rubbing/hitting of the driveshafts against the frame under extreme circumstances ...
<a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=7684">Image</a>

to help with the fuel requirements for the new turbo setup, I upgraded the fuel pump with a dsm unit, just about any of the in-tank fuel pumps will drop right into the stock location, the one I put in is from a dodge stealth twin turbo and it should be MORE then adequate for the 1L
<a href="http://www.teamswift.net/album_page.php?pic_id=7686">Image</a>

I also removed the stock fuel sender and installed a universal unit since suzuki was nice enough to use completely oddball resistance values that are totally incompatible with every known aftermarket fuel gauge ....
this way I can wire in an inexpensive vdo gauge, much simpler, much more reliable...

it's all coming down to getting that crank trigger setup finished ... I'm hoping it'll be making noise and smoke within 2 weeks .... but I've been saying that for a long time

One thing n1tro if you could just take her down the track for me atleast once that way I have a idea of what I could have had.

I am trying to sell my sprint but had high goals for it.

I don't want to sell it but you have to do what has to be done sometimes.

it'll be going to the track for sure, at least 1 1/4mile run, but it's really being setup to take to the PCA events, they won't let me race head to head, but I can still participate in the 'drivers ed' events :)

definately :) .. last time jimmy beat me, so I've got a score to settle
forgot my camera at work tonight, but I've got a whole lot of goodies to sell off to help fund some new tires (and paint & fiberglass) ;)
also at long last, my ignition trigger wheel/pulley is finished and ready to go ... that was pretty much the last part I was waiting for, so a bit more wiring, a bit of fitting, and fabbing up the fiberglass hood and she'll be ready to rock

I'm hoping for a solid 200hp, which I'm sure has been done before, eg. the fireandfuel car, but I may be the first one to actually get some dyno printouts .. assuming I ever get it finished

some more updates .. almost done all the wiring, gauges, & switches, I've got my weatherpack connector pins waiting at napa and the seats & dash ready to be bolted in place ...
pictures is a bit dark..

Hi Kris,

This rotar you got, what diameter is it?
I have now fitted mk2 Gti discs(250mm) which turn it down to 240mm with mk2 caliper.
I works but I think there might be little air in it......
Feels bit spongy at the time.......knocking on deaths' door!?

Cheers
Atchi

couple teasers ...
all done wiring up the car .. completely .. gotta go around & check my grounds, bolt in the dash, calibrate the wideband, and see if it starts .....
Image

and I need to relocate the bov from the wrx intercooler, it was that or make an even larger bulge in the hood ... managed to get the intercooler another inch+ lower then before and shortened the turbo piping a hair so the hood closes like this ...
Image

nothing but intercooler through the scoop

almost everythings for sale if you have enough $$$

my list of things to have it on the road has gotten a lot shorter ...
relocate bov from intercooler to piping so the hood can close
find a way to clamp the filter adapter to the turbo neck
bolt the seats down
bolt the dash in place
finish/primer/paint the hood
fit the hood locks
