I have a non turbo 87 with the tach cluster stock. I don't know if it needs any extra items or not.

The dash in my 87 turbo and 88 n/a are identical (didnt notice if the n/a has provisions for a 'turbo' light) both have functioning tachs so i'm gonna say they'll work....

i bought my sprint with a gauge cluster that has no tack. and i bought one with a tack from a nother sprint and it dident work i had to get the wiring harness from under the dash of the junk yard car. but that could just be becuase mone is an automoatic. so if it douse not work get the wiring harness.

No it won't go
I just did a turbo into a non turbo car & There are differents
in the wiring
close but no you'll have to get a wiring harness diagram and harness it will fit in the hole & the speedo will work but there is subdude

Are you looking for a non turbo cluster witha tach ??

will i have a turbo dash sitting in my shop and i was thinging if i could make it work i would if i have to change the wiring i will. i put it in and all the plugs fit in but nothing worked. the reason i want the turbo bash is because the car is slowly going to become a turbo or supercharger car thats really the only reason and a tach would be nice

I put a turbo cluster from a MK1 Forsa with tach in my 1987 NA, automatic, 3cyl. Pontiac Firefly and got it to work. The connectors are the same, but the wiring is completely different. I took a wild guess and a leap of fate and began splicing and connecting the wires to the corresponding colours; red to red, blue to blue, black to black, etc (I left my original connector in tact, I did not cut it,, but had the receiving end from a junkyard car which I cut incase it wouldn't work). I also had to re-route the speedo cable to accomodate the offset speedo on the turbo cluster; the holes were already in the firewall 8) .

When all the wires were connected, I had 2 extra on the turbo cluster that mine didn't have. Naturally, the tach did not function at first, but I soon discovered that one of the extra wires was for the tach and had to be run through the firewall to the coil; like you would with an aftermarket tach.

The new dash cluster did everything my old dash cluster did with the addition of a tach :) . I was left with only 1 extra wire left over which I didn't bother connecting to anything. I think it has something to do with either the "CHECK ENGINE" or "TURBO" light but my old dash cluster didn't have either of those.

If this is what you are planning on doing, I could reproduce my crude wiring diagram for you providing that your car is the same as mine in terms of this.

Okay! Here we go!

Here are the PINOUTS :D

Only problem I really had is I became confused with the pinouts for 15 and 18 on the second diagram. You have a 50% chance on getting them right on the first try if you decide to guess. Grey with Black has something to do with the ECU sending a signal to the turbo/upshift lights. I had no use for this wire on my car as it is NA automatic  .

I am not sure what the Grey with Yellow wire does, but it is present on both dash clusters. The brown wire which is not present on the non-turbo model's dash cluster has to be extended and directed through the firewall to the bottom terminal of the coil (brown wire also). This operates the tachometer.

Here is the Instrument panel warning light circuit diagram fro Sprint models from the Haynes Manual:

This mehtod proved to be successful for me but may not work for you. Please, try this at your own risk. I believe my information is as accurate as I could make it although it has been over 8 months since I did this to my own car.

Best regards,

I took my dash cluster out again to clarify the pinouts for #15 and #18 (I am becoming fairly efficient at doing so) and here is the revised diagram with photos to back it up. The photos also give you the view point to which I based the diagrams.

I want to thank you Aamp for the detailed info.
Works great! :D
I bought a dash from a turbo sprint some time ago and tried just plugging it in, but found out that didn't work. I haven't had the time to figure it out, but with you help it was very easy.

Thanks again.
