Post subject:  Electric fuel pump in 85 Sprint ?????

Has anybody used an electric fuel pump in there Sprint/Swift, 1.0 3 cylinder. My fuel pump is a 3 line one . My manual fuel pump shaft has frozen in place.

Rockauto has one for $23.79.

AIRTEX E8016S

May Be Used As Replacement For 3 Line Mechanical Fuel Pump

You may want to read my past post about airtex pumps. Now the above is mostly about mechanical but I also went through similar with electrical. If you choose to run a electric try anything but Airtex, and most part houses have others. You will also more than likely need to install a regulator, even most mechanical pumps sold now for Sprint applications put out too much pressure.

i was getting a needle flutter from 4-6 psi at idle and closer to 6 at high rpms.
the 86 sprint has a fuel cup in the gas tank for the uptake tube, i wonder how much they changed the fuel tank design from the mk1 to the mk2. ive been wanting to convert to a eletric fuel pump. i wonder if the intake fuel pump from the mk2 will mate up to the mk1. i got a clone bosch 044 inline fuel pump waiting to be put on, but mounting it is a problem. id have to mount in the engine bay, and im not sure how long it will last going from a 6 foot 1/4 inch intake to a 5/8 intake at the pump, then back down to 1/4. the only real option is see is to buy a mk1 geo metro 2 door fuel tank and see if it mates up, or take a risk and buy just the intank EFI assembly.
