Well, I had changed the registration for PNO status (Planned Non-Operation) while my T3 was in storage. This is a yearly process which allows you to store the car, but does not allow it to be operated on/off highway. Unfortunately I had crossed paths with the LA Sheriff while driving from my alignment place, back to the shop. Once he pulled me over and checked the plate, he called the tow-truck, and put me away for a couple days in Twin Towers

Pulled in another ticket, driving thru Beverly. This time it was only a 'fix-it ticket'. :snore:

8) Ok, got the new grill, new side marker, new headlight bucket and new fender on the car.
Had to cut the NA grill to fit the factory intercooler scoop. Turned out quite nice!

Now have replaced the wheels/tyres which I've had on my Mirage Turbo.
These are stock for their Turbo model for 1985. Rubber is like new Falken Azenis Sport (200 treadwear). Handling is much improved.

Wheels from DSM Turbo:

Now on Mk1:

Ditched my old China-brand Auto Gaug (not Auto Gauge/Meter) boost meter. Replaced with a new, Made in Japan A'PEX Integration meter. Reads in PSI, part of their EL System Meters Series. Really nice gauge, "The ultra thin casing is made possible by maximizing circuit board efficiency inside of the Meter."

I know you have already got your exhaust system figured out. Here is my two cents on this.

You really cannot have too big of an exhaust system on a turbo car. Here is why. You are mainly concerned with back preasure and maybe noise. There is no need for velocity in a exhaust system for a turbo. The reason for this is the turbo is going to push an intake charge in. Back preasure reduces the intake charge and the turbo speed/responsiveness. Therefore run as big a pipe as you like. You can only run too small a pipe. My turbo is planned for a 2 1/4 inch system made from 301 stainless. All manderal bends. It also will have a high flow cat with a 30% louder than stock flowmaster. It should still be very quiet exhaust wise. Seriously though a 2 1/4 inch system is just fine. A 2 1/2 pipe is probably even better, but only by a little bit. If you are going to run time trials I would deffinately run 2 1/2 inch at least!

Back preasure will slow the response and exhaust flow through the turbo. This creates turbo lag. Non restrictive is what your after. I am also planning a T2 turbo with a ball bearing. I have contemplated running a bigger compressor on the stock turbo. There is a place in Seattle that does that type of mod to factory turbos.

Anyways it's all about what your doing. I would not hesitate to run a 3" pipe on a full race car with a 1.0 3 banger in it! As far as ground clearance goes. You can squish the pipe a bit and make it oval if you need the clearance. I did that once with a tail pipe just for the looks in the old days. Now you can just buy the exhaust tips.

I appreciate the input :o
Since I will not be doing a full season until '08, I may decide to change things at a later date (possibly my Corrado will be ready as well). There is currently only a glasspack installed (no cat!) which is quite loud around my neighborhood. I live in a quiet part of town, and do attract a lot of attention, but of course the car has more power!
