I wondered if the box looked familiar...

K&N 33-2523

88-86 Swift GTi

254mm x 165mm x 25mm
10" x 6.5" x 1"
L x W x H

I've searched the part number, I've searched about 20 times, and I can't find anything except for shoving or cutting other filter p/n's to fit.

I can't find the dimensions for the stock filter anywhere... :(

Purolator A24802 = 9.89" x 6.5" x 1.31" (stock replacement)

K&N 33-2050-1 = 9.938" x 6.75" x 1.063" (too wide and a little long but #2)

K&N 33-2523 = 10" x 6.5" x 1" (closest but a bit long)

K&N 33-2679 = 9.125" x 6.25" x 0.989" (short, skinny, and thin)

Summarized! 8)

Hi there Peoploids!

In sweaty anticipation of my Turbo Engine swap inside my much loved Vanilla Latte (convertible that warms my cuckolds) I too have been searching for new parts and my joy was made lukewarm by the understanding that some parts are NLS or that I would have to make do by cutting, snipping, modifying and/or use the talent of a CNC operator versed in the use of biblical one liners. Well, fellow Team Swifters, I have found the exact replacement for the air filter:
Altrom number 3603508. A square air filter, made for 89-91 TURBO engines. I will be getting it on monday. If not the exact one I will promptly delete this input and ignore all requests to attend a court decision in your favor.
I just came back from Canadian Tired and they did order the EXACT square one from K&N, but it arrived in a round shape, not turbo......here is a link for education:

http://www.altrom.com/cdn/partscatalog/ ... Value=1700

Where'd you get it from?

So far the only places that would look it up, want $50 for the bloody filter...

One place even told me, the part number doesn't work, even after I typed it straight into the altrom website.

I paid about $46 + 10% so... $51 dollars from napa...

I'm going to look into a MAF adapter and change to a cone type filter because $50 for a regular filter is just too much.

Please do!
I am holding my breath.
The very bestest of course would be to get a K and N or similar washable one....

I think the K&N for the 86-88 GTi would be the best bet. It's only .1" longer than the stock unit. I'm sure it would be nothing to just trim the rubber down that tiny bit if it needs to be.

If nothing arrives by spring, I'll do the GTi filter and see how it fits, since my mom lives out in small town country, she'll use up the current filter in no time, since it's very dusty out there with gravel roads and lots of farming. :(

Edit: Oh and after my tinkering, and tuning the thing up, she went from 6.3L/100km to 5.3L/100Km. Amazing what fixing a few vaccuum leaks can do eh? =)

Thanks Gamefoo,

Methinks that you are spot on with the filter. The Kay and Enn site offers you to search for dimensions and see what fits.
Much better than going to the retailer and opening boxes....

Oh by the way, with Espresso Nero, a three huf and puff, last tally, cross my heart and hope to die:
I did 556.42 kill-o-meters
I used 25,563 liters of Venezuelan Super
So, thus and therefore:
I managed 4.59 liters per hundred kill-o-meters or
61.54 miles to the imperial gallon (Nicholas 11 ??) or
51.24 miles to the US gallon.

I tried on a deserted road the pulse and glide technique. NEVER AGAIN.
The best bet is to hold a nice 70-80 km an hour and leave a few minutes earlier.

I can't believe I'm saying this.....

Well there is always what my mom is doing right now, she has tires on it that make the car go 10% faster than that the speedo says.

Oh, and that 5.3L is with a older than god fuel filter, old pcv valve, and who knows when the oil was changed last. I spent about 6 hours just fixing... all the glaring obvious problems. I still can't believe the ground wire from the transmission to the battery wasn't bolted down so it was just hanging loose. :|

Oh and if you want, a half container(quick clean for our size of fuel tank) of Red Line fuel system cleaner works like a charm. It has one of the, if not the highest concentrations available of the good cleaner chemical. It won't damage the fuel system like the solvent based ones will. It's about $14 at Crooked Tire.

The Original number from SUZUKI for the 1991TURBO filter is:

13780-82150

It is identical to the ALTROM filter at less than half the price: 22.66 Canadian plus taxes. It comes in a nice box too! This fits the Chevrolet Sprint Turbo and the Pontiac Firefly Turbo. No swift Turbo was available in Canada.......

I just received it from SUZUKI SOREL-TRACY (450-746-4774) fax: 450-746-5621

You might want to pick up a few, I just talked to my Suzuki dealer, and after spending 20 minutes on the phone, he said sorry, I can't find anything, the old Suzuki number just gives him an error.

It's that time of year, and so back I am digging into this...

13780-82150

Is the same part number for the Mk1 85-88 Swift GTi filter. Found the listing on one of those chinese reseller sites, showing a picture of multi-coloured Mk1.

Aight... I'll call right now and see what they say. I tried before and they told me nope.

I'll let you know what the dealer here says, they are very spotty in terms of quality.

Edit: AH Ha! Took em a few minutes, but it did turn up... $45... :O

I needed one ASAP... I'll definantly go to you, or to your dealer when I have the funds to stockpile a few of these filters.
