I have my 87 sprint turbo engine installed In a buggy and have enough room to add about 4" to the length of the oil pan. Also since it's not exposed to the underside of a vehicle to get air cooled I've considered running cross tubes through the pan for air to flow through. Good idea? Bad idea? Seems more oil capacity better and cooler better but I'm looking for feedback on this. I have no temp issues at all. Fan kicks on now and then when putting around. Has a huge custom radiator.
I just rebuilt the lower end but did not stagger the rings properly so I'll be pulling it again and this crossed my mind.

Thanks Edd

Overkill? Oil has come a long way in 30 years.
Go with a good quality synthetic oil.
I would think if you want more oil capacity, add an external
oil cooler. Boom!, done.
These cars were designed to run on dinosaur oil, and did just fine
with regular and consistent oil changes and proper maintenance at
a time when synthetics were just coming of age and additives
like Slick 50 were popular.
The only reason I switched to synthetics way back when,
was to extend turbo life and reduce coking.
2 turbos in 700k miles ain't bad in my book.
Rebuilt the motor once more than replaced the turbo.
Dropping a valve took out the last rebuild after
a few 100k on a OEM replacement short block
with 2 or 3 head rebuilds.
IMHO

Thank you. I tend to over think things sometimes and make stuff harder than it has to be. Some of my questions may be off the wall but that's me over thinking things. Thank you Jamal for again being a voice of reason again. Edd
