So I am in line waiting to DEQ Scotty's old turbo'd 4 door. Suddenly the idle begins to decrease and then dies.
And then I could not get it restarted for the life of me. Prior to this it started instantly and purred nicely even in freezing weather a dozen times. I embarrassingly had to have it pushed through the DEQ station( they wouldn't let me) and called AAA.
When trying to restart it sounds like it's almost ready to fire.
Fuel filter? Fuel pump?
Any quick tips on checking out the fuel pump ?

Just when you think these cars are bullet proof, the ignitors fail at the most
inopportune times. There is a procedure to check status of the ignitor in the
FSM Turbo supplement. Since your car is a bastard, well, good luck diagnosing.

Basics first. Check for spark, check for fuel. A quickie check for fuel would
be spraying some quick start in the throttle body and see if she fires.

Fuel pump humm is audible with key on for about 3 seconds.

Check for codes.
