I want to run 13in wheels too on my 87 Turbo and would like to keep the white OE hubcap look.

Searched for hubcap adapters with no finds.

Also looked for white hubcaps that were similar. Found some spoked ones that look like some FIA World Rally cars.

While I'm thinking steel wheels, there is always the possibility of some kind of aftermarket wheels but I don't think they would be worth the money considering the crappy tire sizes available in the USA (UK has killer small tire sizes.)

Canadian market turbo cars came with 13' hubcaps, white with chrome trim, chevy or Pontiac emblem in the center.

I had 4 I gave away years ago :blackeye:

Wow, Interesting/Awesome information.

Now did all the Canadian Turbos, both Gen 1 and 2 use the 13's. (Specifically, my 87 USA Turbo had 12's, did the 87 Can Turbo have 13's?)

The next question, were the Turbo 13's wider? if yes, what width were they?

gen 1 had 12's, gen 2 13's- 4.5 inches wide , if I remember correctly.....maybe 5''?

market didn't matter, years did....but you guys down south never got the gen 2 t3 cars

stock tire was a 165/65 r 13 bridgestone, came on all verts and only on Canadian t3 cars. rare if non-existent sizing.

I'm going to have to find a set of Canadian 13" hub caps - I want to keep my Tsprint looking as stock as possible - especially when it had those special caps.

I know all base 12's were 4in. 4.5in on Turbo Sprint and Ford Festiva Alloys which bolt right on and I have a set.

Base 13's were 4.5in. Wondering if Turbo 13's were 5in?

I have a new set of Sunny 165/65r13's - maybe last ones ever sold. They have sidewalls as stiff as the last set of new 175/75r12 A008's I have - in other words, the stiffest I have ever seen on a tire. The model was a "...Touring..." tire.

Saw a guy at a car show in NV with an "original" Mini. (I hate having "Mini" refer to that abomination.) He had something like 175/50r13's on his. He got the tires from one of the Mini specialty shops.

That's the size on my Mk1, 175 50 13's.

Stock steel Mk2 rims are 4.5"

There was a 13" hubcap on some 90's Swifts that look something like the Mk1 T3's, and a little like the 14" Swift GT hubcaps

Oh this keeps getting better and better... there were 14's on Swift GT's?

What width wheel and what was the OE tire size?

Any pics around of the 13 Turbo and 14 GT caps?

I have a rare set of NOS 175/50-13 BF Goodrich Euro T/A's I'm saving for a show car.
I used to run them when they were readily available.

I managed to land a set of the Yokohamas a couple years ago, and they're holding
up well on a daily driver. Now it seems you'd have to import them.

Also have a set of Yoko racing tires with minimum tread left, you can still
buy them but expensive.

Plenty of Nankang's available stateside, for relatively cheap if you shop around,
though haven't seen them in person or tried them.

If you look hard enough you'll find plenty of 13" wheels/mags with the right
bolt pattern. Unless your car is lowered, you'll have plenty of clearance.
They handle superb, but leave a lot of room in the wheelwell. Also a little
high in the revs, but quick off the line.
Amazing what a cheap powdercoat job does on an old set of rims.

I had all my spare mags done in white to emulate the white hubcaps,
at least the color scheme is right.

This is before I had the rims powdered white, running 175/50-13

I bought my last t-sprint, an 87, with 15 inch wheels on it, tires are over 7"wide. they rub a bit when the suspension bottoms, or on hard corners, but they handle well. hard on the clutch as they change the drive ratio. and speedo is off 3-4 mph.

For What its worth. I took a set of paint peeled 13" hubcaps from a 98-2001 Lsi metro. (the double 3 spoke) Painted them white base-coat. Put on a decal in the center. then double clear-coated them . Looks great IMHO. and have gotten complements on them.
Also I have done the same thing for 14" Hubcaps using ones from the mid 90's Areostar,(the ones with 5 holes) after filling in the Ford emblem carved out in relief in the plastic, also looks good IMHO. Best wishes. Jonathan.

No doubt someone (such as pacapo) will want pictures, And I once again apologize for my inability to post them

Been trying to find an example of the "double 3-spoke" hub caps.

found this link for OE Geo Metro hubcaps http://www.hubcaphaven.com/c/2264/geo_metro_hubcaps_wheel_covers.html

this one?

In Australia, the MK1 Swift GTi had a 13" wheel cover that was identical to the 87-88 Sprint Turbo USDM 12" 24 hole wheel covers. They came in silver but could be easily painted white. I was able to grab a set a few years back from the classifieds on RedlineGTi.com

I think that RedlineGTi is still your best bet to find a set.

Wow!

Never was aware of redlinegti.com

Haven't had a chance to explore it much, wondering if it is a good site for turbo related? (My 87 Turbo Sprint puts it in the class of USA Sprint and USA Turbo - a very unique an limited niche. Very frustrating for parts and into.)

1987 Turbo Sprint was North American not just USA .
1989 to 1991 MK 2 Turbo was Canadian only .
So other than body parts that are GT related to the Turbo cars Redline wont help with T3 engine related items .

Yeah, I only recently learned that there was a Gen 2 Sprint sold in Canada - I thought Sprint was only Gen 1 USA.

So when I said USA Sprint, I was implying NOT Gen 2 which wasn't sold in USA.

I replied to some of your other posts helping to educate you on the T3 markets on both forums . :D
MK1 was North American .
MK2 was Canadian only .

Thanks CAMI Man, I posted my needs on that Turbo link you offered.

These little cars are quite amazing. Some interesting facts I recently discovered and researched:

1) TWO 87 Turbo Sprints weigh LESS than ONE 2010 Base Mini Cooper

2) The 87 Turbo Sprint was faster than any of the Cadillac 87 models in 0-100 km/hr.

3) The base 87 Sprint weighed 1565# which is way, way into Lotus/Colin Chapman territory.

I was wondering if the 13in wheels (for which there are "turbo" hub caps) are the same as the standard 13x4.5 used on the Geo Metros, etc.

I don't know anything about the OE 14in wheels used. What years/models and widths? (also same question for the 13in wheels)

There is a possibility of finding 175/50r13's which begs the question: which wheels to use?

Maybe today, half rusted away. 2010 MINI Cooper weighs 2,568 to 2,877 lbs
