Was pulling apart an MK III cluster the other day and noticed in the bottom strip where all the warning lights are that there is a TURBO light just like the ones on the MK II Sprint/Firefly Turbos. Any one know if Suzuki was planing on carrying the T3 over to 92 and beyond?

funny story about that turbo light...

when i gave my old cluster to firefly1003, he put it in his 3cyl NA, and when he drove around the light would come on!

the light must get some kind of reading from tach rev and throttle position and works out when the turbo would come on... or something...

so maybe theres a jumper you can switch on the circuit board to activate the light?

ryan,

you piqued my curiousity and i had to check the instrument panel on my vert for the turbo light. of course it does not have it (my luck!)

does your firefly panel have markings for kmh? does it also have a tach?

because i have not seen a turbo equipped 3 cylinder in the us after the 89-90 model sprint, it may be that it was a canadian market product. i'd be interested in checking one of these out.

jardamuth had told me months ago that i would have to swap the instrument panel out along with the wiring harness for my turbo transplant. if there is this difference between instrument clusters, i'm wondering what else may be different.

as rosanna rosadana's grandma always said, "it's always somethin'."

My '92 Swift SOHC tach-less cluster has both a "turbo" and a "power" light. I don't think the bulbs or wiring to light it were in the car, but adding them wouldn't be hard. I plan to use the turbo light in my Metro when I boost the SOHC Swift engine I'm putting in. Anybody know if the lower idiot light strips are the same size on the clusters with tachs?

I'd guess it was acting as the upshift light.

I noticed the same thing last year on my MK3 GT, along the bottom strip with the other dummy lights, were unused ones for Turbo, Airbag, ABS. Looks like Suzuki had the artwork for the instruments worked out before the engineering, or just planning for uncertain future options.

i'd have to disagree, for two reasons...
first, the light would turn off if running a high rev, but decelerating.
second, it came on in 5th gear.

??
