I currently have a 1.0L in my 95' Metro, I wanna boost it with a Sprint or Firefly turbo. What are the main things I should know about doing this and will it bolt up correctly? Also where can I get a performance pulley from?

according to jard, the turbo engine has a forged crank and lower compression pistons that will handle the boost. the turbo engine also has a multipoint injection system with 3 main injectors that are fitted directly on the head instead of the single injector in the throttle body of a NA 3 banger.

the engine bay wiring harness and ecu is different as well to accomodate the the multipoint system. the addition of boost requires a lot more fuel.

i've talked to a few guys who have just bolted on a turbo and used light boost, a pressure hood over the throttle body, and a larger injector and run turbos without doing anything to the engine internals but it doesn't seem like that would get you much in the way of horsepower.

i keep these pics in my turbo file just for laughs. have a look.

Actually, all 3cyl. cranks are the same. I also thought they were forged, but have since found out that they are not. The stock pistons will take boost with no problem, as long as your fuel/timing is right. Raven apparently uses the IHI RHB3 on an otherwise stock 3cyl. at low boost(5psi), and experiences no problems. I can't remember the horsepower, though.

thanks mike,

that gives a lot of creedance to what the crazy boyz were telling me about bolting turbos onto metros, cranking the boost up, and spanking the honda crowd.

they said that they would pop 12 to 16 pounds of boost on the little 3 bangers and run the hell out of them. when they blew up, they'd just throw all the goodies on another car and go racing again.

personally, i was all for just swapping the head, intake, oil pan, ecu and wiring, and the other bits that make a turbo onto my NA short block for a quick job of it. i still might take a weekend and do it!

A fellow here is running a very basic setup in 3/4 tuned state with 80hp atw and a heap of torque. Running custom intake manifold and 3 injectors. Lots more to come on this test engine.
