Yes. It's yet another small hatchback they won't let us here in North America have. Go to http://www.volkswagen.co.uk for specifications.

When will the car companies realize that we're not all SUV addicts and that some of us are rather frustrated by the complete lack of new cars that weigh less than a ton in this part of the world?

4dr sedan car and minivan are easy to make lots of money... not all young teen have lots of money so they can't afford .... richest fools don't want crappy car... so they want fast and powerful car.

that sucks... but i predict that there will be more japanese hi-performance fwd hatchback or coupe car come to america for teen... probably under than 15000usd.

damn! lupo is good hatchback car... but design is okay...

Man I would love to own that car over the geo, no offense. MORE MPGS and MORE TORQUE for towing the bikes to and from the track?!?!? PERFECT CAR IF YOU ASK ME.

I hate always having to trade torque for MPG. But I hate the smell of diesels....I heard they don't smell as bad anymore.

the smell is due to sulfur that is/was added to diesel .. everyone's switching to low sulfur diesel which is a big plus ..
the biodiesel smelling like frenchfries, sounds like an urban myth cooked up by someone who doesn't know the difference between soy based bio-diesel and those home-brew conversions to run on recycled vegetable oil ..

Could be, I've never smelled either. Hopefully I'll know soon, I intend to try both.

yeah its a shame you guys dont get small economical cars, we are spoilt for choice with them here, and young guys can take a piece of shit car and make it into something special! Theres a big suv influence in the UK these days, but they are driven by "soccer mums" with just 1 kid in the car, i mean a small hatch would do the job i mean a stylish hatch like a vee dub golf for the style conscious! And these women dont know the size of the cars theyre all over teh road, sometimes driving real slow and slowing down to get into apparently tight spaces when theres plenty of room! for fucks sake the highest incline these people would have to deal with is there driveway!

We had theese for years... My friend has one, only 1.4 l 4 cyl gas one.
Their built quality is much better than swift's, it's a nice little car. We need to have small cars over here becouse our gas prices are much higher than north american and the roads are much narrower. There's no chance of finding a parking spot with a 15 foot car here.

Is this sort of language really necessary? Does the use of profanity make you feel in some way superior?

Strangely enough, that has also happened to me - twice - but you don't see me swearing at SUV drivers - I was fortunate enough to have the SUV high enough that it cleared the front of the car, and just destroyed the hood (or bonnet - since you're from the UK), and there was no major structural damage.

You're the one that needs to chill, and your "soccer mom" experience cannot be used as an excuse for the second instance.

Settle down man, it's not the end of the world  didn't he just apologize for his profanity? Just sit back, take a deep breath, and relax. And don't worry be happy ;) :)

Back on topic...

At some point in the near future I'd like to import one of those 3 cyl TDI engines and install it in a 1st or 2nd gen Metro/Swift. It would be economical & powerful!!

:!: :-P
