Gordon - thanks for the update. I was wondering how you made out. Glad you're happy with the change also.

Asa here, asa here ! Let the bells ring cause Asa here !

In a one week period I went from enchanted to ecstatic.
I want to thank geometro for his input on the taller final drive swap.
I want to thank superfly for providing me with a mint XFi cam and for his judicious advice concerning timing.
Thanks also go to Serious GT who hoards final drives in a basement secured with 4 padlocks,
All the members of the petrol price fixing bureau for their numerous get togethers without which we wouldn't be tinkering trying to save the maximum possible.
And finally to the enginners at Suzuki who made this so easy that it's actually fun to do.

Before you push me off this stage, I want to add that I can see the day this summer when I will truly see 90 miles to the gallon in my Espresso Nero...I have to talk LOUDER BECAUSE THE MUSIC IS LOUDER, THANKS TO MY FRIENDS WHO ENCOURAGED ME BY NOT SNICKERING...... MY SIS IN PENTICTON....okay, okay..

If you get your hands on a GT (and some of the 95+)dual position sprockets, you can use the E setting to give you 4 degrees more advance.
Its about as much as you'd want with the xfi cam.

anyone have a pic of the E setting?
is it ACTUALLY 4 degrees CLOCKWISE from the std hole on the sprocket?
i am thinking of drilling a sprocket.

Well, my xfi cam has been in for quite some time now, and since the new lifters were put in about 5mths ago-I'm back up around 50mpg from 38. The problem that i have is that I check my ignition timing from.time to time, but cannot get beyond 5*TDC. My distributor will just not turn any farther. Is the ignition timing what i was supposed to change? I read talk of advancing 5-7* optimum and you can buy the 10* advance sprocket.
If i remember correctly, i have the XFI cam and sprocket in. If not, it's the XFI cam and stock sprocket. Whichever it is, I'm pretty certain the cam and crank are set at their marks(in-time)
Any feedback appreciated.

Ok, so if i'm not to advance the cam, but just the ignition timing, then any ideas on why I can't get more than 5* advanced? If I'm right, should just have to disconnect a vacuum line from the distributor and set the timing. It just won't turn any farther. Is it maybe because mine is not the electronic distributor? Weren't the 92 on up cars, and all xfi's electronic advance? Maybe the bolt holes allow for more movement.....?

Absolutely, if you look closely you will see that one of the bolt holes has a slot. Loosen both, adjust the top one and you are set to go.

I have a new cam that has been ground to better than XFi specs.
It was for my vert but it now has a complete turbo set-up.
It was made by Superfly.
PM for info if you are interested. Thanks.
