Hi All! i'm new to the group and all of the info here is awesome!
My 96 LSi 3cyl 5 spd. Has a bad Exhaust valve and i'm getting ready to tear it down, Here is a list of what I want to do as I get the car ready for the road. Can anyone give some advise?
First i'm going to use Mikes Econo-cam and gear setup and have the head surfaced about .020.. I was thinking about adding an Exhaust Header. Also using rear wheel skirts and a plate on the bottom of the car to reduce drag. I've done some reading on the Fuel heating, does it work well? Lastly should I go cold air intake or warm air intake? My goal is to get as close to 50MPG as I can.. I was going to use a XFI Cam but I can find a factory number to order one...
Any input would be great!!

Thanks!
Jim

Stick with the stock exhaust manifold and smooth out the rough spots.
If you run a header, you'll block the egr port and make the car run rich. (won't pass emissions)
Also the power band will have moved up and will lower your mileage.

I bought a rebuilt cylinder head and ported it myself with fantastic results.
Superfly does this professionally and at a reasonable charge, so you may want to check with him and see what he offers.

Cam and cam sprocket are cool too.

heating your gas is UNNECESSARY to get into the 50mpg club, as are rear panels that cover the wheels.

Good luck and keep us posted
