"May 6 2008, 10:45 AM : Oil futures blasted to a new record over $122 a barrel Tuesday, gaining momentum as investors bought on a forecast of much higher prices and on any news hinting at supply shortages... A new Goldman Sachs prediction that oil prices could rise to $150 to $200 within two years seemed to motivate much of Tuesday's buying."
Today: $140. rising faster than expected. will not take 2 yrs to hit 200!
Current price is here : http://www.bloomberg.com/energy/

It's important to note that this will mean not good things for quite a few of us... at least in the short term.

Driving a small car that gets great mileage is only so worthwhile if no one has a job.

Amen to that No job=no money.

I am thinking about that seriously. I hear they pay $30/hr. for a RV (recreational vehicle) technician up there. Right up my alley been doing that for 6 1/2 years. And they also have pretty good health care I hear.

This crap scares the hell out of me. House payment, Car payment, a child, a wife, this economy SUCKS. Plus the american dollar is so low in value a MPG gauge from Yoshi is gonna rack me $190 if I decide to get one.

The short term is what's going to hurt. In the long run we will adapt. We Americans are very good at that.

Ethiopians adapted too, they let flies crawl on their eyes. How bad does it have to get before it gets better.

Letting flies crawl on your eyes is not adapting, that's sucumbing.

Adaptation
1: the act or process of adapting : the state of being adapted 2: adjustment to environmental conditions: as a: adjustment of a sense organ to the intensity or quality of stimulation b: modification of an organism or its parts that makes it more fit for existence under the conditions of its environment
Succumbing
1 : to yield to superior strength or force or overpowering appeal or desire <succumb to temptation> 2 : to be brought to an end (as death) by the effect of destructive or disruptive forces

I would have to say that is adapting. I was just trying to say how can we adapt when we are being attacked from the inside out. Iraq and Afghanistan know what they are doing, we cannot afford to defend if our money is not worth anything. And by cutting our oil supply back and driving gas prices up, everything goes up with it. Suppliers have to buy fuel for Everything we buy. They do not walk it to the stores. GAS is the #1 reason behind the price climb on everything we buy.

I am not saying you are wrong about us adapting to the situation at hand, but am saying how much can we take. Soon we will have to pull our guys out of Iraq purely because we cannot afford to leave them there safely. And if they control our fuel prices through oil prices. We will be weakened from the inside out. That is what they want, just like animals take away there food or shelter they are exposed to attacks. That is what I am trying to say.

We need to stop arguing with one another and fight back at this crap. This is America and we VOTE everyone into office. Why not make them do what WE vote for. I am not saying I don't Love this country. But America is still young and vulnerable at this point.

If you guys want slightly less corrupt and gutless politico's, you have to basically make campaign contributions illegal, make running an election a federally funded deal for your senate, president, etc. It's somewhat keeping our federal conservatives in check, although atleast once or twice a year, we get to hear about them getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar.

Oh wait... government funding, is like swearing south of the border.

Don't worry I live in the land of goofs that voted in a corrupt federal republi... I mean conservative government. Yet they can't quite moaning about the liberals, while they turn a collective blind eye to the neo-cons in power getting busted for illegal this and illegal that, and then the government just publicly hushes it up.

Ahh wells, I'm seeing gas put a pinch on everyone, and yet for some reason the oil companies are pulling down billions in profits at record rates, and consumption is going down... Wait... They say they don't make anything on oil, yet profits are up, and consumption is down?

theres no way we can win. we can bitch and moan about the price and that everyone drives gas guzzling pigs. great, buck fifty a liter. but then everyone realized that hey, I can travel the same distance on HALF the gas!! omgomgomg so they sell their guzzlers, buy our sprints and the demand for fuel drops 25%. what does that mean? price will have to go up atLEAST 25%. nearly a buck ninety a liter.

sadly it wont work that way, gas prices will rise to 2.50 before people cant afford 250$ fills and then its gonna go up because of lower demand.

enjoy it while you can swifters, gas IS cheap!

Yes gas is cheap compared to what it will be 6-12 months down the road.
I predict that by x-mas this year oil will hit $200/barrel and we will be paying $2.00/litre.
By mid 2009 I expect it to be exactly where the Russians said it will go, $250/barrel.
Not only that but natural gas/carbon fuel byproducts will go up equally as high.
Electricity will have to go up as well.
Can you see here in Ontario .05 cent/kwh currently now staying as is ? Everyone will switch back to electric heating.
The Fat Cats can't have that ,ROI , shareholder returns and all that.
It will have to go up equally as well.
Call it the snowball effect, everything else will go up also, inflation creep. I can see another Zimbabwe or German Weinmar Republic in the making soon here.
Try carting a wheel barrel full of money to the store for a loaf of bread.

I have reading a few things from this site of technoids http://technocrat.net/ and it gives me the willies that they may actually be right about some of the stuff happening around the globe.
Talk about recessions, I think we may be headed for another DEPRESSION .
Some hard times ahead.

we are having a provincial wide "boom" over the next few years, and it becomes a sellers market :( that shitty condo I lived in last year was going for 95k, by the time I moved out 5 months later it was 135, and now they are like 150's! fuck I shoulda just bought one to sell it over a year. they renovated the whole apartment and sold them as condos. now you can find a riverview 1 bedroom condo for 200k. what the hell is this
