if the pictures are more with all the text throughout them...don't bother. You can't see any detail.

nice car. you have spent a lot of time. very thorough insulation.
what is the small forked tool used for?
does the catch can have a drain valve?
does it collect much oil?
why is the ground short on the spark plug?

I believe it is cut to reduce the affect it has on the flame front from the spark?

He said it allowed for a smoother idle?

I always wondered about the interference if any. This is a similar to my questions was about indexing the plugs. but others here said it would make no real difference. I also would think that cutting the electrode could create other problems.

nice car. you have spent a lot of time. very thorough insulation.

thanks sir

what is the small forked tool used for?

it is for bending the cut up ground electrode to reset the plug gap

does the catch can have a drain valve?

yes it has one below it

does it collect much oil?

20 - 25 ml in a months time - i drain it out by the stop cock installed below it

why is the ground short on the spark plug?

to give a better exposure to the flame front

thx

thank you for answering all my questions. :D

i would think:

1. the plug life will be much shorter. How long do they last?

2. the average car does not need indexing or other measures, but turbos and high compression engines may benefit.

When I got My 3 cyl Metro there was 2cc of oil in the air cleaner so i replaced the PCV valve and add a catch can. It expelled no oil in 3 months into a catch can so i removed it.

I salute your excellent heat shields. Have you measured before and after temperatures?

On my metro there was no difference in temp in the fender and at the air cleaner.

But your approach may be useful on my GT. I will take measurements when i get it running.
