Just wondering if there are any good instantaneous MPG gauges for the pre-OBD2 vehicles? Aside from the MPGuino http://ecomodder.com/wiki/index.php/MPGuino and anything that requires a laptop, is there anything else out there for us MK1s?

Tom

All the MPG gauges do is relate engine vacuum to a guestimate MPG scale. Even the digital ones used in Cadillacs, and analog ones in U-Haul truck have it.

J.C. Whitney carries a simple fuel economy gauge and a boost/vacuum gauge. They both connect a nylon tube to an open port on intake.

The old fashioned economy gauges used engine vacuum. Modern gauges monitor the injector pulse width and vehicle speed sensor to give mpg readings.
