I'm sure many have tried to locate an economical source for OEM XFi camshafts. I looked at a few online GM new parts places. They show the XFi cam available for around $225 shipped. So if gas is at $3/gal, and I realized an improvement of 5mpg with the new XFi cam, I'd have to drive 35-40k miles to pay off the cam. Great MPG aint cheap.

I may never see one, but I'll have to hold out for a $35 cam from a JY.

The only other source would be 3Tech for a cam/cam gear combo for I believe $200. And yes 5 mpg is normal increase or 50/tank=1 gallon at $3.50. I've spent that on a Whopper last week. Swapping the cam/gear was a lot of fun. The Wife got the 'econo' cam and I went for "power" :lol: But I still get 54 mpg "highway."

My son gripes that with my Suprf1y econo cam and +6 cam sprocket, I have more power and better gas mileage than he has with his stock cam and sprocket combination.
It's not always about the break even point. Sometimes you really need that extra oomph under the hood while out on the road: (Shame on me... :twisted: That's not how I typically drive, but I couldn't resist being a bad boy that day!)

If you can spare the change, get his Xfi cam and the +10 advanced sprocket.
