my current exhaust consists of the oem manifold, aftermarket cat 1.75", a 2" intermediate pipe, and a 1.5" pipe from the elbo (where it heads to the passenger side) all the way back. It shakes all over and hits everything, from the tire to the sway bar to the shift lever.

I just bought the stainless long tube header which I believe has a 2" collector. If it is infact a 2" pipe i would like to keep the entire exhaust 2" to let it breathe. However to keep it from sounding like a fart can i was thinking of running 2 glass packs, a 31" glass pack under the hump in the middle of the car and a 17" to 21" glass pack where the oem muffler should be.

QUESTIONS....
1. Would that be enough back pressure to maintain my 50mpg fuel economy?
2. I realize it will be louder than stock but it wont be like a fart can will it?
3. Is there a secret having the exhaust NOT hit anything under neath, even with lowering springs, under brace, and sway bars?

You just have to be careful of where you route it, theres not a whole lot of room under there. Maybe use stiffer mounts to keep it in place better. Glasspacks aren't gonna give you much if any back pressure, thats how theyre designed to work. They are more likely to give you a farty tone as well. Maybe just run a single resonator, or a 'turbo' muffler like the dynomax or cherry bomb.

glasspack and thrush turbo sounds nice :D more muscle car-y lower exhaust tone, no popping.

ok so ive got the SRD headers or whatever their called
2-1/4" cat
2"inlet /outlet cherry bomb 31" long
now what for the muffler? A $16 20" cherry bomb or this...

You didn't mention installing a cat. I would try it without a muffler and just the glasspack first, then if the sound is too harsh or crackly for your liking add a muffler later. The cat will take the edge of pretty good.

it'll catch fire, rubber + hot exhaust = bad, dynamat is not rated for hot area use.

Anything you wrap around it is gonna make it rot off. If you want to shield the heat from the floor boards an aluminum cover placed between the muffler and floor is your best bet.

well, my muffler fell off last night

i took my cherry bomb off the shelf and looked through it, come to find out the diameter DEcreases on the inside. :c)

i just shoved it on, to see how it would sound (no clamps no hangers) i started it and it actually sounded pretty good!

However before i have anything mounted or welded together im going to mount the front sway bar and buy+ install an under brace. That way anything that could be in the way will be in the way and the exhaust shop will have to work around it. (avoiding having it rattle against anything)

Oh, what brand exhaust are you guys running?
Part numbers? sound clips? youtube vids?
I just want to see what different brands sound like.

There are a several factors when trying to select the right system. If your price range does not allow for either of these exhaust systems then a Gibson system will still provide a awesome sound.
