Found this site to give you a base for comparison. It covers '85 to '97 Metro, '85 to '94 Sprints/Fireflys/Swifts. http://fueleconomydb.com/index.php?-tab ... l=%3DMETRO

my 86 gets close to 40 in city, and 37 freeway. highway (assuming 55) would be much better than 38.
i love how there never state the speed of the 'highway'

(The above were new Demos with under 8000 miles)
1987 t3 sprint 36 MPg
1989 GTI 5sp 32 MPG
1991 GT 5sp 33 MPG
1993 GT 5sp 29 MPG (Still Tuning this one)

My 86 Automatic gets 36 and 40, running between 62-65 on the freeway. Pretty consistent tank to tank even if I have my AC running. I guess I have it as tweeked as I can hope to get. A few aero mods and new tires probably slightly help a bit too.

I am getting 44 during the summer and 41 in the winter. I commute 30 miles each way, mostly rural 2 lane roads at 62 mph.

Just bought an 86 which had the interior gutted and racing seats installed. Not to mention no A/c (anywhere)

Since it has been "lightened" I'm sure the car weighs less than stock. But as of now I'm getting 50 to 55mpg mixed driving.

My ol 87 was only getting 45 tops.
