okay, so the stock carb is a mess of vacuum lines and wires. it needs all of them.
first off, check your vacuum lines. then the wiring. there should be nothing left unconnected.
if everything is not there, the carb will suck bad.
thats my problem right now.
the leaves the carb really rich withoout complete computer control.
chech out my 'tuneing the carb the wrong way' thread to see my progress in the mk1 forum.
and i truely mean in doing it the wrong way.

Check your fuel pressure. It may be a weak fuel pump.

It does it after I get off the highway or do a long trip. I have a new fuel pump on it is started when I changed the carb. To a new one at that I checked all hoses all good and gaskets. I'm thinking it electrical

A wideband will help. Should be bringing aroud11 if the mcs is dead or the ecu is dead.

At idle take a video of the carb.
Zoom in on the passenger side, and get a close up of the fuel/air level in the sight glass.

These carburetors are extremely easy to trouble shoot if you are willing to follow instructions.
