Hey guys. Anyone of you still have hoards of parts. My black swift's frame horns need to be replaced as well as a portion of the chassis behind it and the rockers.

the horns are harder to come by so if you can help that would be appreciated.

The simple solution for me is to junk this (can't ask for much with rusted horns) and wait for a better one to come along. But I know that once I am out of the Suzuki game that will be the end. Plus I have too much invested in this to throw away.

I am not interested in swapping a whole chassis. It will take too much time and finding one is like hens teeth too.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if you can use MK4/5 frame horns since some mk2-5 are mostly shared same.

Just take a picture and go to the pickapart then compare both.... Worth to try?

PS.Same for MK4/5 floor pan.... I am told that floor is same except outside rocker... not 100% confirmed.

Let me check Pasco Auto Wrecking here in the high desert. I might be able to find some. We might have to do the TS hand off to get them up to you.

Thanks guys. TS hand off... Maybe I will go through my stash of parts that can make a trade.

I don't really want to chance the mk3-4 frame comparison. Spend 1/2 day cutting, $ then find out they are not an exact match to my '94.

The "local" wreckers in Richmond and Surrey told me they no longer keep these old cars in their yards, actually they go straight to scrap metal. Tom mentioned that there are some in Langley. Doubtful they are not rusted. Even thought about buying a parts car but once the horns are cut, I have to cut the rest in pieces to haul them out.

Hate to be at this cross road. But you know how it is... there is no other car that handles and feels like your first new car, mine was a '90 GT. Ok the le car was my first used car aNd the '74 celica my second, but their 0-60 are like 18, 16 seconds so not as excite acceleration wise.

So glad here in SE Washington state that we have a very dry climate. Also, the Nez Pierce and Umatilla Indians control what goes down on our roads due to the Salmon in the Columbia. Salt's a last resort here.

like I said... Just compare by visual and measure... there might be a minor or no mod.... worth to try. I don' try it because I (and my friends) just inspected my shell and realize it's not worth to work on... Swap the chassis is pretty fun hobby for me...

There is a lot of mk2/3 and 1 mk5 at chilliwack.

Swifterthanu... Can you please let me know if you find cheap shell for mk3 and or mk5 (2000+ just because). I just search the shell for 3 months :?

Must have been misunderstanding I thought you were looking for
frame horns and floor boards
like the ad says.?

that why suggested vert.!
to me Vert frame horns look identical to the GTI frame horns and very little different in floor pans
.
If Your looking for a clean shell with proper paper work well that a whole another animal and wish you a lot of luck.!
(I only know of one and it a driver)
.
I would think if your looking to "Repair your car"....... rather then replace the shell.?
.
any one of these cars would fit you request
if you could put your car back on the road for less the $300 that what be a game plan
Unless your not looking to the USA for help

To clarify CMA's last post:

No - Clinty did not buy the $500 moldy/rusty Gti we looked at.. I think he found a similar but much nicer GTi.. Since Clinty is the original poster, he can update whether he is no longer looking for a set of frame horns.

CMA - you replied to Clinty's post and added that you also need something: an entire MK3 body shell.. so anyone reading this can help CMA also with his search, or reply to CMA's original Wanted post at: http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=61871

Sorry guys. I missed all these posts while catching up with work during the week..

Yes, I was looking for frame horns. Then I found more rust at the back of the wheel well, etc etc... The repair work is a little too much.

Tom and I checked out the white gti for $500. Rockers are gone. It does not run. And there are signs of a bit of a hack job on some stuff. But no offence to the kid who owned and pasted away. Someone bought it and is parting it out and you can see it on Craigslist.

There was another white '93 gt. It was owned by a lady since new until last year. There are minor bits that need attention and I have parts for it. The bad is a Midas muffler with a 1.25" pipe installed after the resonator and rusted outer rocker on the passenger side. Rest of the chassis is in good condition. It is much better than mine which I have used as a winter beater...

So this want ad is dead.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the black swift. May end up being a parts car....

wow. That is amazing how you can lift the whole shell on braided ropes.

Thanks for chiming in. My needs are met for now. I will drum up a new list for the newer swift and check it against my stash. I may have given most to Ralph when he bought my blue GT...

$3k. No. But it was not that much of a deal  I question why I keep buying swifts and stay in game. I have other collector cars to play with. Then again, the swift is like my first love.

I should add that the steering on the car was as straight as an arrow. There is zero slack in the ball joints. So the story about the car being bought new for a daughter who used it until last year holds up. Even the battery is a Suzuki label so it has likely been dealer maintained.

He still has the turbo. It is not a car anyone can handle, down right extreme and needs fine tuning to get right. Lumpy single cams, big turbo, huge down pipes, etc etc, are all set for a peaky motor.

I don't think we have the same talent and enthusiasm in our local tune shops to smooth out the bumps in the rev range. There are more gurus and sophisticated DIYers in the US. Dyno tuning imports is poor business here. So many of them have come and gone...

I know how you felt. There is no better car than swift gti... even there is not many hot hatchbacks here like Europe.

Yes I remember that car is very well maintenance as I search the owner's old posts.

So you drove the blue t3.. hmm? I know there is a few good tuning shops in Richmond... but I don't know if they have experience to tune up T3 tho.

Not this. It is baby blue sprint turbo with mid wing and white wheels. Slammed to the ground.
