ill post some updates soon, I got it road tuned and its doing pretty good, headgasket is still blown like it was when it dynod but its getting worse. Ive got a copper gasket a little thicker than stock and arp studs to go with it, and hammer that out before it snows up here. im running it n/a with the pcv system connected. it smoked bad with it disconnected (like it did before) and this significantly reduces smoke, so its temporary for now. Ive just got the big tb connected to a tube, and the tube has a nipple for the pcv in, rather than sucking it through the turbo. the megasquirt is really neat and its cool to play around with.

I blew up my ignitor last night, but luckily the roflmetro had one so I got it going again. the weather is getting depressing around here, its cold :( ill probably run boost-less through the winter though, and ill be ready for 15psi+ next year if the motor will hold!

oh wow. I havent updated this thread much, I did up a section for it on my site http://www.fyredaug.com but basically its broken again, getting a whole new motor using vitara pistons. got a fresh block and crank and using the t3 rods rather than n/a and having the whole bottom end balanced. also blew up the diff, cranked up the boost one night and killed the clutch, then the diff let go, and the compression was iffy in a cylinder and had some smoking. so whole new drivetrain comin in! I sure liked what 150ish whp felt like in this, so now ill build it to do that daily.

could be a little while for things to get all back together, got studded tires waiting to be used. also moving this month, so buy my stuff

for your sound deadening, wouldn't it of been easier and cheaper to use rubberized rocker panel spray? How much did all that stuff cost? cool car tho.

PS. I'm glad the west semis are being hosted in Sask. I always enjoy seeing 100's of green Goofs dissapointed after their team is ripped apart! :P

people say that, but really, I already cut the cost a fair amount by getting this stuff rather than dynamat. im sure rubberized rocker spray would do something, but im after it being very quiet, and this stuff works good.

as for the car: everything is coming together, block is done, bottom end is getting balanced with my new vitara pistons, and im still waiting for my head gasket and arp studs. will update more soon

alright, got me a turbo trans, and a new motor almost done. just waiting for srd to hurry up and send my damn HG and ARP studs. balance is done, block is done.

and heres my latest newest part:

meth/air temp sensor and bov, all in one nicely compact piece that I can still put a hose and clamp on. 1g dsm bov unit

bit of an update, I have like 6 projects on the go and only one income, so each thing gets a little each week.

anyways, heres the block fitted with the std vitara pistons (though block is bored 1mm over), again, looooow compression this time.
Image

head port work
Image
Image
Image

bowl work
Image

combustion chamber work
Image

cleaned valves, lapped and ready to go. SS on the exhaust
Image
Image

and as it were before another 20 thou came off. my estimated compression is about 8.5:1 now, rather than the last motor at 10.2-10.5ish
Image
everything is balanced and built to suit 25psi, so stay tuned

heres a very very early pic of the approximate shape the bumper will be in. I suck at computer graphics so I wanted to quickly slap something together to check for depth and what not in the real world. the completed fiberglass will be based on about 90% of what you see here (obviously with no cardboard and duct tape but rather fleece/mat/resin)
lol

no bumper progress, but I should finish that pre-mold to make the mold so I can drive with the shitty bumper this weekend.... or atleast thats the plan. got EVERYTHING but the new axles. at 90 bucks a pop, it better be a worthwhile investment. I didnt have clicks, but one boot was torn and they both came from a wrecker, so fuck it, everything else is new, ill grab em tomorrow.

so anyways, I built the motor, minus the oil pan and a few other little things. got a little bit of stuff left to do to the clutch, but its basically good to go. 250ftlb plate, with an exedy disc. which is basically a stock replacement disc. but hey, it held over 130atw with a stock plate. around 140-150 it got toasted pretty quick. so hopefully the whole clutching system will hold about 160ftlbs/200hp! and hopefully this GT tranny does pop a diff through the case.....
Image
Image
Image
dunno if I mentioned it before but I ditched my 2 different cam gears at +10 and +6 for a stock one, more rpms. got ol' lumpy in there with new lifters too

shops a little messy hah! waaaay too much shit on the go to clean up after myself it seems.
Image
Image

lets see, my tire choices for this car are:
175/60/14 all seasons ~80% tread on two, 60% on one, and about 30% on another.
then 4 195/60/14 rt615 azenis
and 4 13" something big studleys.

I think I wanna sell my lightweigh nissan 14's, wrap the azenis on the steelies (as they only get track time anyways) and get some decent-er wheels for the daily drive tires. the whole car is gonna look good this time, no rust, no dings, new paint, (hopefully) decent looking kit

aaand I had my manifold modded up a little more, theres sooo much stock shit that was on this car that has all been removed, and rather than plugging it with the sensors/crap that was there, I just had it all welded up. bypassed water to the tb, but unfortunately the way the head is designed, it needs to flow through the IM.

did up a bunch of stuff today, including the clutch.
Image
different sized holes. remember this plate is not meant for this car at all. it lines up perfectly using the larger holes over the dowels, but then the bolt hole is on the wrong side.

Image
so its drilled out, did that to all three, once the plate is shifted counterclockwise all the 6 holes are lined up.

Image
quarter turn at a time on each, while keeping the disc centered. torqued down

and just some generic pics of the motor as it is tonight

couple questions.

1) what was the reasoning behind using 4v pistons on a 2v engine? someone get an in-cylinder vid of that running, should make for some cool you tube comments.

2) what brand of silicone is that? i've never seen one that says you have to use the entire contents once opened.

hah yeah I had bad luck with it before, I wanted to make sure it was sealed!

but they are suzuki vitara pistons. if you have to ask why, you should read about them. they can take over 100hp/cyl, reduced my compression by alot, and is key to me safely running 20+

we ran it last night, needed a little re-mapping for the lower fuel pressure and base compression, but it ran. tested the clutch, disengages properly, all is good.

had a coolant leak that was at the water pipe, then noticed the driver axle was clicked all the way in and dropped a liter of synchromesh all over the ground. ah well, had extra. no more leaks, but my lc1 is dead! doesnt have any LED response, doesnt heat up the o2, wont connect to laptop. fuck

Where is your LC-1 located? can't see it in the pics... I've had troubles with my LC-1 being too close to my coils ans other magnetic field source. Also the black calibration wire, had troubles with the LED connected to it. Troubles dissapeared when I left that wire floating.

LC1's are garbage. i cant even count how many of them i've returned as defective.

100hp/cyl? on vitara pistons? sadly, you have read something, and twisted it in your mind. vitara pistons will not hold a 300hp 3cyl. nor will they even come remotely close to sustaining a 400hp GT.

the d series guys have surpassed 400hp on many different builds. not saying I'm building a 300hp 3cyl either. but you've been misinformed

I meant the module, not the sensor. I don't have my WB sensor close to my ignition coils

I'm happy with my LC-1, but i've read horror stories about them. I must be lucky it works fine.

turbohull after looking at your ms map (atleast an old one while I was getting my ms running) and looking at my recent ignition timing map for my motor (slightly lower comp than yours) im thinking your timing is too conservative, ive jammed alot of timing into this motor and ive been pulling the plugs 2-3 times a day (I put 200 some km's in a day anyways) and ive been constantly tweaking. bpr6ey's are the best plug ive found, after extraneous plug pulling and reading ive finally dialed in my settings to go with the boost level and heat range. there was alot more to plug reading than I initially though and ive learned ALOT in the past month. so anyways, the car runs like a damn champ. pulled strong from 4000-6500, then even stronger passed 6500 till she hits the 8200 limiter, its so powerful now with this new motor, I cant believe the 15second times youve been running with 20 some pounds of boost

ive slowly worked my way up to 13pounds, where it literally (in 4th gear) picks up speed at 140kmh. and my upgraded clutch slips in 5th now. comparing this power level on the butt dyno to the butt dyno of the actual 110whp dyno, I would estimate im in the ballpark of 140 right now, its insanely stronger than it was before, and I dont have any worries about blowing it up. I wouldnt not feel comfortable holding 4th to redline, when on the high comp motor I felt a little sketchy.

still a WIP though

you mean my map from early last year? what did I tell you about it when I gave it to you? i generated this map with an excel file, it's a base map to get the car running. I didn't have much time to play with it, I've been busy replacing IC pipes that blew off. I've kept my conservative timing mainly because I used hotter plugs than you. I use IFR5J plugs. I get them cheap.
