Hello I bought a GTi Without the dipstick. I made a dipstick in my lathe but now I need to know the lenght of the dipstick as I do not have access to oem parts here.

I can measure my original for you tomorrow.

I made one for a friend out of the SOHC by relocating the rubber stopper and shortening the tip.
There is a reason Suz. used a thick flexible wire -- the tube is bent and I had to shave metal off the sides so the blade would bend !

Here's our MK3's:
X= 16" or 40.7 cm
Y= 13/16" or 2.1 cm
Z= 3/16" or 0.5 cm

Had to double check; yep.
The MK2 measures out the same.

What year is yours?

Kinda grainy, but you get the idea:

(might be a tad over 13/16th, eh?)

Once you get the cars dialed-in (compression, leaks, bearings, alignment, brakes) swap in new rubber and glass, you've got something which should last for years!
