Most likely I'm going to cut the dear old rally Swift up. I have tried to sell the car in Costa Rica but no one wants it. Even at $3000 with all my spares no one wants it. boooooo hooooooo So when I return to Costa Rica I'll be bringing a saw-all to do the chop up. Some of the parts I can use on the Mini so in some ways I'll be saving some expense. Once I start chopping up the car I'll let you know what parts I have for sale. unless I get a buyer soon.

That's sad indeed. I hate it when I see swifts GTi being cut / chop or just parted out.

In a few years there will be none left.

I’d tell you to drive it down to Venezuela or Guyana and then I’d take it from there, but that would probably cost you $3000 in fuel alone! lol

Sad to see a rally car being destroyed though.

Sad to hear that. I'm one of the few left rallying a Swift in Canada/North America. We'll try and keep the dream alive here :)

I'm keeping mine alive here in the U.K, just coming to the end of a major re-shell project using a 2003 998cc 3 pot shell (old shell has to much 1990's Japanese tin worm), fully seam welded, full WRC spec roll cage (T45) etc etc, and so looking forward to having power steering on her for the first time :D (remote electro/hydraulic system from a Citroen Saxo).
Sorry to hear you can't sell yours as a going concern Chris, obviously people don't realise how much fun they can be when driven in anger on the stages!
Andy.

Sounds like a good rebuild Andy.. yes it's sad no one wants the Swift. Main problem in CR is finding spare parts cheap. I'm lucky because I buy in the USA and bring them with me, going to be the same for the Mini. The other thing I'm tired of tossers there dreaming and wasting my time. In order to move forward with the Mini I need the money from the Swift. At least parting out the Swift will keep other Swifts running.

Looks like the Swift will rally again! At the last minute the Swift will be rented for this weekends rally. If the the renter likes the car ( he will LOL) then he plans to buy for next season. Super happy.

The Swift and new team did well! The only problem was the cable broke off the alternator so no charging but they finished and the Swift is fine. I just hope they buy the car.

Yeah...that could have happened to almost any regular rally car - and by regular I mean not WRC works-team prepared! Good on ya!

This a WRC works team Swift! LOL I got the car back yesterday but the guy does not want to buy the car but there might be a chance I'm going to sell the car next month. Fingers crossed the old gal will be rallying again next year!

That's it folks! I'm tired of being dicked around by folks in CR so the Swift is going to be parted to keep many other Swifts running. Plus I can use a ton of stuff on the Mini from the Swift so at least some of the Swift will still be with me. sniff sniff booo hooo

I would like to say that the folks on this forum have been the best in helping me go from zero experience to knowing so much more about Swifts. The jolly Swift has been a giant killer and has made me a hero in Costa Rica! The Swift is dead, long live the Swift!

I will do my best to sell the parts and ship the parts at a fair price.

The dear old Swift is slowly being spread around the world! Each trip back to the US I bring more stuff back. I was sad to strip the engine down after it had worked so well for me. The head went on a 1.6L engine making it a screamer! The gearbox went in the same 1.6L car so I'm wondering how long the internals will last with a tuned 1.6L

Here's the new car with dear Swift crying in the background

LOL sorry but your LSD is in the 1.6L! For me it was better to sell the Box/LSD in CR than having to break down the box to bring back to the US.

Not only a sad for the Swift but me too! I'm nearly finished parting out the Swift which means I'll be 100% focused on the Mini forums. Thanks again to all who helped me on this forum.

Rally on Andy
