Well, the car is going up to Mt motorsports on Saturday for a tune. I have 800 km on it and have now done a 3rd oil change and switched it over to synthetic. I was looking for something thicker but I settled for some 10w30castrol full synthetic because it was on sale 8)
I did a compression test to make sure everything was in check

What fuel are you gonna use? Are you using a knock sensor?

Ultra 94, no knock sensor,
Right now the car is running on the tune for the old block with the cultus pistons. I haven't heard any thing bad as far as ping is concerned. I was just told by a few people that if you have ping you know it when you hear it. is there minor detonation that you can t hear? I have well see tomorrow with the megasquirt tune how everything is and I'll report back. I hope I haven't put stress on the pistons

I got the car back from tuning and it is FAST!!! We limited it to 8500rpm so it doesn't go boom. It pulls hard to the 8500rpm limiter and wants to go further. It's kind of scary.
But it can't all be good news
I am getting a sound coming from what I think is the water pump...it's not the tensioner idler because I just replaced that to see if that was the problem. Also, I had the serp belt off and I wiggled the pump pulley and there is the slightest amount of play in it.listen for a loose clunky noise which is happening once hot. Sorry the audio is so bad there's something wrong with my mic...

I was taking a look and to me it looks like the alternator pulley isn't perfectly in line with the water pump pulley, could this have something to do with the water pump bearing going? It's pretty much a new pump.
If you look at the picture below, look carefully at the alternator pulley in behind, the right side lip is higher than the left.
