If you can get the chip out of your auto ECU without damaging it and send it to me, I'll send you a way better chip that doesn't make you shift manually for free...

I know it's hard to find someone you really trust but I outsource all of the desoldering myself because I don't want to buy the tools and spend the time practicing

I bet there's somebody nearby that is good enough to do the work, though admittedly, the PC repair guys I normally use by me did hose the last chip I had them remove (though the socket was well installed) :( They did warn me that they might not be skilled enough to save it however, and a friend that has helped me for free (and whom I therefore try not to bug with this stuff) was able to save one with no trouble--but then again he claims he's "NASA Certified" so I guess that's not a surprise.

It's a pretty big risk, and I guess you'd have to trust me because if you go through all the trouble to remove and ship it, I won't know if it's in good shape until I try to read it, so it's possible you'd just end up with a ruined automatic ECU.

But that's why I'd do it for free :D

Full disclosure: even though nobody buys my chips, I'd also like to be the only vendor with a proper chip for an automatic

If you ever find a really good desoldering ninja in your neck of the woods to do the work, keep me in mind. :alien:
