The part I'm talking about is the coolant pipe mounted to the block right under the intake. I took it out and needed to replace the o ring that is at the back of the water pump, so I bought a basic one at a hardware store, but I'm worried its too thin and if the actual replacement o ring is thicker. I looked for a replacement part but could not find... I wish there was a thicker o ring. Does anyone know?

I use a generic oring all the time with no problems. Im fairly certain it's a '216' labelled number in my red oring holder box. When I was doing these things non stop I'm pretty sure I used 214 for distributor and 216 for coolant tube. Regardless of part number it's a fairly standard oring and I have proven success with it.

I also use the O-ring from the hardware store without any problem. Even for the little screw at the tb. Now that is a special O-ring I just can't find anywhere.
