Post subject:  Brake line question

I have a slow weep from one of my front brake lines leading to the caliper. I am unsure if they are OEM because of how badass they are; they are stainless with some plastic (clear/yellowish) sheething. The connection to the caliper is via a banjo+fitting.

Anywho. Does anyone have a good solution for replacing this line?

Sounds like you have Goodridge brand SS aftermarket brake lines. Find them on Ebay if it needs replacement.

My Goodridge lines do not have any plastic sheathing, but I'll vouch for them being a good product if you wish to replace what you've got with stainless (I'd do both sides at minimum).

Stainless lines is another one of those topics over which there is much armchair disagreement--it's supposedly "easy" to kink them, causing difficult to diagnose problems, and they are "prone to failure" where they connect. I've seen none of this with my Goodridge lines, and I've have had my suspension apart so many times that, though I try to be careful, there's no question I've put stress on the lines by accident in ways that I could worry about.

I also like the change in pedal feel, though that is very subjective and has nothing to do with the effective stopping power of the brakes. As much as I like them, in retrospect, I might have saved that $$ for other things in terms of cost benefits: YMMV

If cost is an object, just get OEM style lines. If you want to go stainless, I wouldn't trust anything but Goodridge, and then I'd cut some rubber hose to fit over them to protect them from dirt because they don't come with it standard with sheathing (that I know of).

Awesome! I ordered some new lines. I'm glad someone still makes and stocks these items.
