Following up to see if there is any serious interest again

I have not driven it much since the last post.

I may consider a reasonable offer. :(

OK I am finished the rebuild and concidering selling my baby.

Please check out my rebuild post for details - this will cover most of it.

http://www.teamswift.net/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=47292

I have had her for a long time - may be time for a change.

I am asking $10,000.00

It was apprased at $10,000.00 for insurance. I have much more than this into it.

This plus being original paint and owner may be worth it to someone.

I have about 3000 KM on the engine and car since the work.
Anyway

Exquisite; Simply gorgeous, well worth the money you are asking.( especially if the the 10 grand is in Canadian funds   ) after redoing 2 cars to completion and nearly being done with 2 others, I have concluded a couple of profound observations.
1) shots and counseling don't cure restoration fever .
2) for every restoration dollar spent you get 50 cents back and all your time was free.
Best wishes on your cars (beautiful "family portrait" by the way) .Jonathan

As of closing, Friday July 15. One Canadian dollar is $1.0479. So US would be paying $10,479.00. Man, I wish I had that kind of cash kicking around. Maybe I could re-mortgage my house  . I don't think I could get a loan on a car that old, no matter what condition it's in. Keep it Wilf, you'll regret selling it.

Thats a lot of cash!!I had a 67 chevy truck it was a very rare truck. The truck had parts on it that were not intended to make it out of the factory. It was valued at $8,000 US.I had about $6000 into it and just like you the time came to sell it.It was hard to think about but i had to be realistic and it was time to sell it.I put it in the paper and on Craig's list.I thought well im going to take a bath on this but thats what happens some times.I listed it several times i was only asking $3,000 what a Deal for some one well days went by with a call here and there and then months went by and it never sold.I finally got rid of the truck i got a $500 utility trailer $250 cash. One of my best friends got the engine and someone got the body for parts because they had no idea what they had.
Thats my sad story i hope you get what you want out of the car but be prepared you might not.You have a really beautiful little car and one you will not soon replace if you sell it.My thought keep it if you can.
Good luck Bro

Well I can tell you numbers on Swift GT's that were brought to the U.S. are very low. It is a "Niche"/Cult car. They even had a story on MSN about possible collector cars and the swift Gt was on it. Right now is a buyers market. I think if He put it on Ebay he would get a VERY good amount. 10K? IDK,,(He just might!) but 7K? Ohh yes easily! Another thing,,,how many rust free shells are out there?? Not many!!! He is the original owner, and original paint(It is only original once) and if he has all paperwork,,even better! All supply and demand. It has been a very long time since a Super-duper clean swift has been on Ebay.

Thanks for the perspective - thats what I was thinking for the most part

Some day they will be worth alot more -

I am still working on small things - eg: new head lights. etc.

It still needs more tuning which is part of the fun.

I would be as happy as anyone if a Swift was considered a collector car, but the MSN article cited discussed "10 Affordable Classics for Summer Cruising," and identified the 1983-4 VW GTI, not the Suzuki GTI (http://editorial.autos.msn.com/10-affor ... ruising#11). Obviously MSN got it wrong! :)

My story was not to incite an argument but instead give him my sad story when i sold my pride and joy.I wish him the best of luck.
As far as not many GT's out there that is correct. Not to long ago there was a GT for sale in WA. state it was being sold by the second owner witch was the original owners son.It was selling for around 4,000 it did not last long.I believe any GT in good shape for sale at a reasonable price will sell.Best of luck

The MSN article you have is not the article I was talking about. This article was done in 2007.
http://editorial.autos.msn.com/article. ... art=sports
loosely put it,Future collectible!
Also "Collector' car magazine did a article on the Swift GT's years ago.
I know what you are talking about though yummybacon. Some cars are hit and miss at times, what is favored at the time, and ECONOMICS!! Some people may not agree with a Swift GT being a collector car,but lets see in 10-20 years when MOST of the Swifts are rotted away. I mean heck people are starting to restore them! That means something! I would NEVER list a car that is somewhat a collectors car on CL. Too many tire kickers, dreamers, lowballers, etc.
