If the frame is good, that would be a great commuter for somebody.

Talked to him yesterday. Has electrical issues as he said someone tried to steal it while it had no battery and they tore wires apart from under the dash so it wont start, so will need to be towed or trailered.

Not familure with the market for these engines and tranny. I'd be looking at putting it into my 79 mini. What would it be worth as it's just around the corner from me? and what all would I need from it?

You would be smart to get the whole car. That way you have the wiring and can remove it at your own pace and not have to butcher anything.
It's probably worth $500 if it s a good runner with a good trans. Let us know if you call and what he says about it.

I have talked to him and the interior was purchased by someone in Hamilton. He wont sell the whole car as he pulled it with his tractor as the wheel bearings were seized and tore the front end apart from the body, but says it ran fine prior to being parked a few years ago and that it should start fine and will start it, but the alternator may be seized from sitting.

It sounds like it's been sitting in his yard for a few years, hence the front bearings went bad and the front separated from the body (rot?).

He said there are a few people from Toronto and Hamilton that have called about the car and are interested in the motor.

Maybe I'll swing by on lunch this week to see it run as it's only about 15mins.

In that condition, I'd give him $150 max for the motor and trans, with wiring.

Not mine but this thing is sweet. If I had money laying around I would buy this one.

Ummm, Curtis? Who are you talking to?

If you can't swap an engine and tranny (as a unit) in a day you need help from someone more experienced. That process should take less than 8 hours. Swapping the wiring, a couple more. Swapping from right to left would probably take more time, parts and money.

Only the state of the drive train would make me decide to import something and swap sides but, for the cost, it would have to be near new. AWD?..., that makes a difference but what do you want to spend to achieve that? Is it worth (to you) what you pay? How much will you use it?

Don't expect any Swift variant to get you around when you have 20" of wet snow overnight (I'm guessing Ft. Mac.). Only clearance will get you through that. Better to buy a 4.3 Chevy full sized or mid sized (S-10) Pick up or Blazer/Jimmy for that. Vitaras and the like don't do well after 12" or so.

I hope I'm not coming off as an a-hole but I thought I would play the other side of the coin to you.

I've see this car before. I bought some parts off the seller. Good guy. Reasonable.

This car is actually on the Island... Mill Bay... Just north of Victoria.
