Trans is slipping
Car has rust in floor and right rear rocker
Runs great does not smoke or use oil

In my opnion rusted out with a bad trans means its worth $500 tops. Just a bit more then scrap. Parting it out you could easily get $1000 to $2000.

Ah man I would love to have an auto GTI. To bad the tranny in it isn't in good shape, I'm not very far from you either.

he is right. The value is in the parts, not the unit as whole...and you have to keep in mind the time involved with tearing it apart. If you want higher than scrap prices, your gonna have to work for it!

i just sold my auto, and it's not all it's cracked up to be. They discontinued the auto after 89 because it didnt agree with the limited slip diff. plus at 65 the motor was SCREAMING at 4000 rpm's. it's quick off the line, but not a lot of top speed!
