1993 Geo Metro 4 door hatchback. $800.

Automatic transmission totally rebuilt in Feb 2015 by a transmission shop at odometer reading 198k, now at around 205k. Engine has a blown head gasket (no coolant/oil mixing). Uses oil and coolant quickly during highway driving. Slower consumption for city driving.

Might just need $36 for a new head gasket [and head bolts] from RockAuto but I don't really care to open that can of worms since the head might need milling and all. Frankly, I don't need a car that much anymore.

I have a Honda scooter now for daily trips around town and plan to pull my camper van out of storage and drive it when I don't want to take the bus or scooter. Between insurance on the car and storage on the camper van, it's costing me over $100/mo when I never drive the van and barely drive the car.

I like I do very cool 4dr autotragic

....... But if a were to buy every $800 Geo that "Needed work"
I would have a driveway full of car's
............WAIT......WHAT.?

Lately I haven't had/wanted to hunted down car's
unless they are very special.(Thanks locjaw).
Strangely enough some car's just find a place in my drivewy

At that price...
that's all the money these day.
Fact is the last few running driving cars car's I sold were under a grand.
Looking back I think I sold "Elturdbo"(87 4dr sprint turbo) for $1200 & $1400 for the last GTI I rebuilt
Believe me I lost money on the last few cars I found home for.
WHY.? because it is a therapy for me make these car run and put them back on the road
.
Now I like a challenge
these day I value my time a lot more then these cars will allow.
.
The used car market is flat (over 12yrs old car's)
.

I wish you good luck in your sale.

Pull the head check it out through a head gasket and a belt around $25 in parts about 2 hrs labor
you could get your asking price out

$1400 for a Trans rebuild is a good price if you were planning to put a couple hundred thousand more miles on it
but as a resale point not much value.
People don't really care if a trans been rebuilt they are buying bottom line car
(AtoB) cars they just want to know if it works
.
......jv&s
.
