I have a '97 1.0L 5 speed hatchback and I am preparing to swap to a '99 16 valve SOCHC 1.3L. The new engine was from an automatic sedan. I got a transmission, flywheeel, clutch, two axles and an intermediate shaft from a '89 1.3L non-GT Swift. I also got the motor mounts from the same car. I am only guessing that all of this will work because you never know for sure until you try it out. My biggest challenge right now is marrying the two wiring harnesses. I have not been able to get complete wiring diagrams for both vehicles. The engine wiring harness will physically connect to my existing loom but I really need to be sure of the connectivity. I am hoping also that the '99 ECU that is calibrated for an automatic will perform properly in a manual transmission car. By the way, this ECU does not have a DIP PROM so I don’t know what options I have for reprogramming. Advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
