Hello. I am having trouble finding a T-Stat gasket that actually fits my t-stat housing on my 1990 Geo Metro. Engine is the common G10, BUT it's one of the take out motors from Japan ( the ones you see advertised with low mileage ). If I remember correctly, the t-stat gasket I keep getting local, fel-pro, ac delco, would have fit my old original USA engine. This Jap engine has a smaller t-stat housing.

Now I am using the closest ford gasket I can find and just oblonging the holes out. It doesn't leak, but I think the t-stat is cockeyed in there or has movement letting coolant by. It takes longer to warm up, and the hose coming off t-stat housing gets warm wayy to quick.

I bet this is a common problem, but I would rather give all the details. Anyone ran into this, have a part number of a gasket that fits perfectly ? Any help would be great.

i ran into this a few weeks ago. i never paid much attn to it as i always keep "make your own" tstat gasket paper on hand and just cut my own out. now i might have to pull it apart and check further into it. it was a used engine i got with the car and have no idea where it came from.
