Well I got my short block back from the machine shop I'm really disappointed with the job they did cleaning the block.Maybe I'm expecting to much but after I saw the job Mike did on my head i had high hopes for a really clean block.Any thoughts on cleaners? I will post some pictures shortly.

Is that left over baked on grease? Or stained aluminum? When my blocks come back, from the machine shop, there is always a little staining.

But not quite like yours. I think 3Tech actually uses aluminum paint to even things out. When I used aluminum engine enamel, on the stained block, it ends up looking like the 3Tech head.

Looking forward to seeing how you like the cam. I love my 365/222. Be aware that the valve train will be noisier due to the grind. And good oil is a must. Even for first fire. Nice project. :yeahyeah

I've had pretty good luck using oven cleaner and a little wire tooth brush like you use when tig welding, should be able to make it look like it was just cast, not all oven cleaners work, can't remember which one I used last, good luck Jon P.

Good information thanks.One of my concerns is the bottom end is together so what ever i do it has to be in small amounts i have to be careful of the new parts.Im kicking myself for not cleaning it before i took it to the shop.
