I want to build a high rpm g10 looking for a cam and a set of valve springs that can handle it to start looking for 8500-9000 rpms if its possible i know just doing a turbo would be easier but that's not how i like to do things how hard can i push the stock rods till i have to get a set of rods from a gti.?

contact suprf1y or clarkdw for the cam and springs. 3 tech performance has a new spring for the g10 valves that might extend the rev range.

9000 rpm might be pushing the limit. my experience with the g10 is that it runs out of wind before it can make that kind of rpm.

Ill have the head ported and put a suitable cam in Im just looking to get the most i can out of it NA I have no need to go turbo I already have a camaro that runs 10s in the 1/4.
I will be running a set of bike carbs and the wide band out of my camaro for tuning. the only thing i wonder about is if the ignition hold up.

Ignition is fine, rods will be fine. The springs we have are good for that kind of RPM, and we should have a suitable cam grind. We've run them to 9000 RPM before turbo and non turbo. You will want some compression if you're going to run that much cam.

indeed, the ignition on these cars is really very robust. the turbo cars use an outboard ignitor along with the coil sort of like the twincam engines.

i recommend our member fainya for an inexpensive rebuild on the distributor, a good set of plug wires, and ngk power groove spark plugs. other than that, the oem ignition should be good to go.

Theoretically a set of flat top pistons would help high speed flame front. Does any one know the stock heads cc at for the chamber looking for 11.5-1 on 93 octain. Don't know if its possible on the g10 heads due to the combustio chamber

Get a set of flat tops from either a Mk1 non turbo, 4 cyl. 1324 motor, or the 89-97 1.3 8V 1298. If you want to run GT pistons and rods, you can do that with a little machining. The 1298 pistons require a little machining on the top as well. The compression info has been posted here a bunch of times. I can't remember it anymore, but should have it in my book. You can take .100" off the head, but then you need a 1.3 tensioner wheel for the timing belt.
